Re: h pipes
I've seen a couple of true X pipes on FAST cars, but no H pipes. They (X pipes) have to be properly configured for diameter, and length before and after the X, and they're pretty hard to fit up under the car.

Re: h pipes
I've always heard that X-pipes can be faster than H-pipes. I put a TTI 3" X-pipe system with Dynomax Ultraflow mufflers ending at the rear end housing on my car. Every indication was that I picked up a bit, particularly after I removed 60lbs from elsewhere in the car to bring it back down to class minimum and did additional carb tuning.
Unfortunately I didn't do back-to-back tests. But I do keep extensive records of all my runs. I was sure enough of the comparison & results to keep it all on despite having to pull it for trans swaps. I can still pull the driveshaft and center section with it in place. But it's cramped. I even got several compliments on the sound over the last couple of years. |
