Stock GT help needed ...
I am building a '94 Camaro with a Jerico to run in Stock Eliminator. I'm not interested in the FI classes and think I've ruled out crate motor. Can someone help me with GT combinations? I've tried the rule book, IHRA web site, and even called and emailed tech directors with no luck on hearing back from them. What are some of the quicker SBC combinations, classes they would fall in, as well as race weights? Any class better than another? I can get the legal casting numbers for heads, intakes, and carbs as well as accepted pistons and rods from NHRA's web site but don't which engines to look at right now.

If your car is a Z28, the NHRA shipping weight is 3216 if I did my math right.
A 1967 327/275 is rathed at 295 per NHRA stock car classification guide. s/ss factor - divide 3216 by 295. = 10.90 IHRA stock GT/C weight = 10 x295 +170 = 3120# race weight D 11 x 295 +170 = 3415# A 1969 350/250 rated at 230 factor- 3216/230 = 13.98 IHRA stock GT/F 13 x 230 +170= 3160# race weight G 14 x 230 +170= 3390# |

1971/ 1972 Z28 / 350 /330 I think Greg Hill runs one . Your car should be about 300 lbs lighter than his so you would be in stock GT / C or D . Depends on what year you claim but one has a Qjet and the other a Holley . Mike

Sorry change that to 73 has the Qjet and the HP is only 315. Mike

When you say above mentioned you mean the 350/330 with a Holley and that would be a GT/C or D car? What would the weight be for both of those classes and has the hp been adjusted?

Thanks. I really appreciate the help! Last question ... I can pick up the casting numbers from NHRA's web site for the 350/330/315 but I'm wondering about how IHRA does the carb and intake. Do both of those have to be numbers matching also? I ask because I have a 4179 Holley 750dp that I picked up from a class racer that was legal on a SBC crate motor. Will that work or do I need a number's matching. Also, do you have to use the OEM intake or are there aftermarket replacements?

you have to have the intake and carb with the correct numbers for the engine which you are claiming it to be.
crate motor stock is what can use a 750 double pumper and any intake that will fit under stock unaltered hood. |
