Re: IHRA pure stock
It's to a large degree what NHRA stock used to be about 20 or so years ago - in addition to what has been said, stock valve spring pressure is a requirement. Do get a cam ground for it though, just let the cam people know what spring pressure, overlap, duration, and lift limits you need to follow. If you can't find the specs, one of the long time 428CJ builders on here can help you with them. Your combo should be quite competitive in IHRA pure stock, good luck.

Re: IHRA pure stock
Keep the sway bar but make it inoperative (spacers). Stock NON-adjustable rockers are required. One angle only on the valves (no back cuts) unless they came from the factory that way (455 S.D. Pontiact, etc.), I doubt they would ever look and check for a mini-spool. Why not just use the Ford Detroit locker? The other posts are correct in that Pure stock is basicly like stockers were built prior to 1985. Its a GOOD combo. I hear they are still trying to decide if the Cal-track springs will be legal. Check with Hank Blakenship on this. Most of the rest of the tech men wont know or dont care. Its been about 7 years since I had any dealings with this but have been keeping track on ocasion and still talk with Hank and Duane Eiskant. Good luck.

Re: IHRA pure stock
RJ ,is the cam spec that you refer to,would that be the one that is on the NHRA blueprint spec sheet.

Re: IHRA pure stock
THe cam is much milder. Duration, overlap, and the old lift spec. is required the last time I checked with Duane for pure stock. The new spec. in NHRA's blueprint sheet does not list the stock duration and overlap specs'. The current lift spec. listed is a "SNOW JOB" created by some "creative minds" (?) currently running NHRA stock elimnator who have connections in high places. Yes.....I know it was a FORD CAM but it was NOT the one that was O.E.M. If I can get my old spec. book returned I could help you out but it is in the hands of Duane Eiskant at this time. If not then maybe IHRA will allow you to use the larger cam. JUst call and ask them????
