chemicals for rust treatment

I have some roll bar tubing and sheet metal pieces that have been rained on a few times. The pieces are sound, only surface rust. What products are available to clean these pieces? What is the treatment process?

Ospho works very well, and isn't a product that you need a hazmat suit to use.

Most rust treatment products are essentially phosphoric acid. Ospho is 75% phosphoric acid, and is a watery consistency. Naval Jelly is only 25-30% phosphoric acid, but it's a jelly, so it sticks a little better.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but how about sandpaper or a wire wheel?
