30x9x15 Hoosier Radials psi?
I have run the 30x9x15 or 30x10.5x15 radials for the past 4 years. This year I have been having trouble in the texas heat getting them to hook up. This past weekend I ran them at 17 psi. It didn't help much, I still blew the tires off all 3 rounds. What is the lowest psi ya'll have run with these tires? I have never been below 20 psi until this past weekend at HRP.
Thanks, Coach |

I run them at 21-24 with no problems I assume the track was bad or you have issues with the car... |

Re: 30x9x15 Hoosier Radials psi?
I'd have to look at the log books, but I'm pretty sure we run about 24 psi. We've only had trouble hooking on the worst tracks, under bad conditions. And it's a 9 second Stocker in good air. It hooks well even at AA/SA weight.

Re: 30x9x15 Hoosier Radials psi?
Coach, we had a lot of trouble around 16-17 lbs with these tires, inconsistent. Tried many shocks, bar setups, everything. Finally raised the pressure in increments to 21 lbs. and never failed to hook since. This was a '69 Nova bb E/SA 3570lbs. and we ran this tire on a 10" rim.

try running them around 24-26 anything below 20 in a 3500 lb. car you will spin on a marginal track.

Re: 30x9x15 Hoosier Radials psi?
I've had two sets of Hoosier 9x30's, and have always run Goodyears since. Had no wear or consistency from the Hoosiers.
15 1/2 psi minimum to 16 1/2 psi maximum on my 3250# ride at mid 10's. But, I'm a bracket racer. I've found that the Goodyear D-4A is best all around for hot to cool tracks, with a very light burnout on hot (115*+) tracks. They do make better compounds for very hot track conditions. Been running them since '01 or so? There are usually 8 compounds available in Goodyear 9x30's |

Thanks for all the replys. Saturday during the 1st TT I went 1.39 60 ft on the back tires. I made a front shock adjustment to control the frontend and went 1.36 ft the 2nd TT. 1st rd blew the tires off. Got lucky and the other guy turn on a red light. The 2nd round I blew them off again. This was with the 30x10.5x15 slicks. Went home that night and put on the 30x9x15's and went 1.35 60 ft 1st TT Sunday and blew the tires off 1st round again. We are going to make a Tq arm/Adco rear shocks adjustment for the hot texas weather. My car is a 02 Z/28 Camaro LS1 346 bracket car that runs 10.30's in the Texas heat. Car is 3150 race weight. She is very close to a Stock Elim car. Coach |

Tightening the front shock extension is one thing I cannot get away with on a hot track, gotta let it get up on the rears ASAP.
