Anybody find a beehive valve spring to work on small block and big block Chevys in stocker engines?

The PAC beehives are the best ones that I have tried compared to the Comp springs and some PSI springs (no longer available) We have used them on the 283 with great success. I weighed the old square springs and retainer were 26 grams heavier than the PAC beehives with retainer.

If anyone is going to othe Joliet Nats or Points meet, I will be at both. I have an old head with std square springs and the PAC springs to compare them too as far as spring pressure. (I have a spring checker too) I also have a digital scale if you want to compare weights.

I will have about 6 sets of the 1406s if anyone is interested at Joliet. I can give you a jobber price. First come first serve.
Look for the little green 66 Nova stocker. Jim.

I'm making the trip out to Joliet this year, so I'll be sure to stop by and harass you. Need to grill you for advice on a couple areas of the Nova. Going to Topeka tomorrow, but no stock this year so it'll be a little lame.

James... 1406? Don't see that # have tried 1409 on the dyno and saw no difference from the crane H-11 regular counterpart... however we weren't experencing any valve float to 7600 on the perticular Stocker engine we tried them on..but...they may help on perticular low lobe lift, low valve lift combo's like 283's that need to go to 7500 plus and are having problems with float caused by harmonics,,,,,,,also consider the new push rod rule / tapered / also reduces harmonics, they say you can drill the pushrod guide hole to fit larger pushrods.. so if it' tapered and wont fit in a guide plate, use post 86 rail rockers to keep the rocker on the valve stem. Don't use aftermarket ones... the best are old original LT1 or GM Perf in the yellow cataloge set of 16 / best value. If your using 7/16 studs, grind them & make them work

sorry,I was typing impaired. 1409s. Basically we run a lower rear gear and accelerate quicker down track than we could before. We also had experienced float at a certain rpm range and that is gone now. Lighter is always better. The pressure hangs in there too. I don't run any big pushrods so I don't know about that. I don't know if that will help, but it probably wouldn't hurt.

The only reason I bring it up is that I had some springs that were pretty good and I told no one. They were discontinued (such a big secret that no one else bught them either I guess) When PAC patterned some springs based upon stocker research, I felt it was worth talking about since they actually listened to some little guys interested in going fast.

Probably what you don't know is that they also make some pretty cool stuff that you can find on Nitro and Prostock teams. Some NASCAR stuff too.
