VP race fuels
I run a BBC that has 9.69 to 1 comp.. I have always used VP C-12 fuel but I don"t need all of the octane so, I was thinking of switching to VP Motorsport 105L fuel. It is suppose to be good to 11 to 1 comp.. It has a motor octane of 101 and a specific gravity of .745 - .760 @ 60 degrees F. Can someone tell me if this is a good choice? I like to stay with VP fuel. It is going to be for a bracket car.

Re: VP race fuels
Save your hard earned cash and run the rat on high test pump gas. I've played with the same combo and the blue barrel juice is a waste of money unless you want to run some spray.

Re: VP race fuels
I'd say sunoco ultra 94 would be fine! I ran cam2 in my old bracket car till one day I ran out in the 6th round of elim. all i had was generator gas ...put it in & the car broke out! it was a 9.5 comp. car.

Re: VP race fuels
Ok does the static comp. and the cranking comp. make that much difference? The static is 9.69 to 1 but it has alot of cranking comp. due to the camshaft profile.

B.T.W., my engine is 15.01:1 static, with a fairly long duration flat tappet cam. I run any generic "110" leaded fuel that is available, but never spin it over 6500 RPM's, run it cool, (130 at the line) and run it fat on the carb jetting. |
Re: VP race fuels
C-11 might be a better choice. I'd call VP, they might know what would be your best choice.

Re: VP race fuels
I run the engine to 6500 rpm"s, so will a unleaded fuel work? I thought I had to use a leaded fuel.
