Risky vintage drag car names and the changing of times

I would imagine the satanic and vulgar stuff didn't go over well in the bible belt areas? Doubt anyone would even bat an eye now.
The racial stuff (even if unintended like on Tweed's Olds) was probably more accepted back then, but would probably get you a visit from Jesse Jackson these days. |

No confederate flags? Those alone are enough to send some people searching for the nearest safe space these days.

Re: Risky vintage drag car names and the changing of times
There was a 1955 Chevy gasser for sale when I was in high school. A buddy and I discussed going in on it, but he wanted to park it in my parents yard. The name of the car was ORGASM. I kind of nixed the idea because of the name. I suppose I could have sanded the name off the sides. I doubt my mother would have liked having that in the front yard. Having an old car was bad enough, worse that it was a race car. A race car with that name was right out.

When I was much younger, a guy in the neighborhood had a '57 Chevy named "Miss Carriage"

The best one I remember from a local Modified car back in the 70's: Hard Cumin'. I was too young to get the joke...
The cleaner name that I didn't get until Engineering in college: Prime Mover Jim Caughlin SS 6019 |

The "Black Sabath" '57 Chevy picture is from Ardmore back in the '70s. I grew up watching that car.it was show car quality and did win in car shows along with races....Neat thing is ,it is still around here but the lettering has been taken off, still a really clean car with the same paint from back then. The letters were like a prizm,it would change red, green, blue as you walked by at different angles...Victor
