Looking to Join in 2011
I am going to be building my first Stock Eliminator car this winter and look to run in your Series next year.
I'm really exited to get back into Drag Racing. It's been since 2005 that I have made a pass down the track. |
Re: Looking to Join in 2011
Well it's nice to feel welcome about joining...

Re: Looking to Join in 2011
What Class and Combo will you be running?
|
Re: Looking to Join in 2011
when you get it to the track come say hello. never a shortage of someone to talk to, or hear a story from at a Can Am race
|
Re: Looking to Join in 2011
I currently looking to run DF/S with either a Neon or a an 83 Charger.
I should be making my decision soon so I can get the engine to the machine shop. It has been five years since I last made a pass. That was in the Big Block Aspen I used to run before I sold it. Time to get back to it.. |
Re: Looking to Join in 2011
Yikes, do we allow front wheel drive stock in Can Am? You know, you can rear wheel conversion those cars and run crate motor :)
|
Re: Looking to Join in 2011
WHAT? The rules just say legal stock or Super Stock cars... It doesn't say you have to run a certain speed.
You obviously have more money than I do. |
Re: Looking to Join in 2011
you're right, just saying what other options you have. nothing to worry about. And I can't have more money than you......I have a race car ;)

Re: Looking to Join in 2011
LOL ..
I was out of work for 1 1/2 years so the car that was going to be a J/SA ending up being sold to pay the mortgage. Now that I'm back to work I have to start from scratch. All my toys and parts are gone. Baby Steps.. |

Re: Looking to Join in 2011
I can answer your question a few ways.
I have a Neon, I do not have a Duster ( so I would have to buy one, and they are not cheap or plentiful) To run the Duster I would also need: Caltrac Bars, 8 3/4 Axle, a sure-grip unit, gears and a new driveshaft, Two headers insitead of one for the neon, 4 pistons instead of 8 in the crate motor, and an expensive converter and tranny in the Duster. Running low 15's will not require the same level of expensive parts as a 11 second crate motor car. The Neon just needs to run the index, not set the record. So a good rebuild, headers and side gears will get it done and of course a set of slicks.. I'm not looking to build a $6000+ dollar race car here. I just want a legal car that can run the National Event at Grand Bend and so I can check off one on my bucket list. Winning Indy in 1997 brings back a lot of memories and I want to do that again. |
Re: Looking to Join in 2011
Mr CrateCamaro,
do I smell you making a new friend? make sure you PM directions to your stag so we can continue the conversation ;) By the way I vote for ANY body style other than the Neon |
Re: Looking to Join in 2011
Oops.. I get it now....

Re: Looking to Join in 2011
Im up for anything or any car. I just thought maybe you already had a neon that was "beefed up". I have seen some buildups on these cars and they are not cheap to build as you probably already know. There is a duster im my area for sale....looks pretty good for 2500 bucks. Obviously its powered by "THE LEANING TOWER OF POWER" :D I wish I was a dodge guy because it would already be home with me. Not knocking any build so dont get me wrong. A stocker is a stocker to me. Dont want to get off on the wrong foot here.

Re: Looking to Join in 2011
No Problem... If I still had the Aspen it would have bee a 300 Commando powered Crate Engine Car.. or a J/SA 360 car. Unfortunately family came first.
The Car I'm looking at is a 1983 Charger Shelby with a carb 2.2 stick. Pretty good combo for DF/S.. Natural D Car.. I won a ton of races in Slow cars but I have also run 9's and that was fun too ( not in my car, I got hired to drive for a while) I hope you guys don't fall asleep waiting to chase me down..:D |
