Had my negative experienc with Progressive bout a decade and a half ago . Had some vandalization damage (broken side window) and called agent to find out if covered . Agentadvised repair would most likely be less than deductable , so do not file a claim . Got repair done at my expense . Several months later at renewal time new policy statement came in , much to my surprise there was a rate increase for a " NON-PAYMENT CLAIM ". Needless to say , the net year and henceforth I was not insured by Progressive !

One wonders if Stephanie Courtney (the actress that plays Flo) is in the same league with Peter Lewis, chairman of Progressive.

Lewis seems a bit of a pothead, along with being a twin brother of George Soros.

Probably the best way to measure the quality of an auto insurance company is to check with non-DRP (Direct Repair Program) shops and see what kind of problems they have with a particular company you ar thinking of insuring with or ask them which insurance compnay they have the most problems getting compensated to properly repair a vehicle. Being a former VP of the MS. Collision Repair Association and involved nationally with the collision industry and consumer advocate groups, I can tell you that Progressive is probably the one company that has more complaints than any other. Just ask Mississippi Attorney General, who had a Progressive adjuster locked up for grand theft in a claim involving his truck and an at fault Progressive insured.

Re: Don't trust Flo.

Progressive is located in Ohio just north of me.

Chris (Drooze) and I both were in technology before cancer required that I "retire". but back to the point..

At different times, both he and I were recruited by Progressive to join their IT staff. His invitation and mine came a few months apart.

First I interviewed. Afterwards, they offered me a job as Manager of Web Based applications. I spoke with a lot of the staff as part of the interview process. And the money was right about market value for that type of position. So I said I will think about it, and went home.

I never called them back, and they called me a few times, I finally said, I am not interested.

I didnt tell Chris about it, because one size doesn't fit all, and maybe I read them wrong.

Chris caled me one day to tell me he had just interviewed at Progressive. He told about the people who had interviewed him, and the others he spoke with. He said they offered him a similar position.Seems they had hired someone after I said not. And they interviewing Chris to replace the guy who "wasnt working out".

Then he told me just what I had observed. They treat their employees like cattle. Are immature and unprofessional, and have a facade for standards and documentation. Their goal is do the least, at the least cost and if you don't like it, hit the road. They are always trying to replace people who either got fired for doing right, or just got tired of being driven with a cattle prod.

That, along with confirmation from a lot of people on how Progressive treated them, is why I have never even once considered Progressive as an insurance company.

When I worked in Seattle I was very involved with the local BMW club and they had frequent tech seminars and such, one thing I learned from the Repair shop owners is that you are NOT necessarily in "good hands" with some of the majors. Personal experience is that State Farm is probably one of the best large company to insure vehicles with...
