Cat vs cummins

Looking at getting a class A for racing. Pulling a trailer. I’ve had other class A motorhome with the 5.9 Cummins and was happy with it but never pulled a trailer. I’m thinking I need the bigger engine, 8.3 Cummins or the cat( most have the 3126). My question is cat vs Cummins. I like the Cummins but have no problem with a cat if they are reliable and have enough power. What’s your guys experiences?
Thanks in advance
Darren

I loved my 8.3 Cummins. It takes very little to safely add horsepower if your pulling a stacker. Last year I drive a cat 450hp with a stacker and was not impressed with power or gas mileage

The 8.3 is an awesome motor, in our 45 foot DP it pulled a ~6K trailer up the Rockies without breaking a sweat. I have no experience with the CAT but none of the MH manufacturers use them anymore and the RV crowd generally avoids them for various reasons. IRV.com is a good resource for seeing comments on various combinations.
