1966 Coronet stocker

Would like to put this in stock with a hemi but have a few questions.

1. Since only two four doors were equipped with the hemi can I run stock with a hemi?

2. Can I run a trailer hitch in stock?

3. Can I use original paint as is?

I am one sick puppy!!!!!

I don't think you can run the 4 door hemi in stock if only 2 were made. I have a 68 Mustang coupe that I'd like to have dressed for stock or super stock as a GT350 but only two of those were made. The rest were all fastbacks. One is MIA, believed crushed, and Mean Green is out there somewhere.

I have a hitch on my street/strip car but I drop it before tech. It bolts to the frame. The car and trailer are both in my avatar over to the left.

Paint? Rules say

Paint must be complete and professional. Driver or owner must have original receipt totaling not less that $3,000. Self painted cars will be booted.
We are all a little nuts.

Afterthought: Coronets are my favorite MOPAR body.

I was under the impression that there were something like 8 Coronet 4 door sedans built with 426 Hemis. I saw one in the Don Garlits Museum in FLA years ago, and a different colored version in a magazine as well.
As for the "Paint Rules", where did you see THAT?! It certainly was not in my NHRA rule book.

The trailer hitch is OK if it was factory installed and not modified. You are not allowed to hang weights on it.

Exactly. How do you think they race Max Wedge and Hemi station wagons? Or Hemi Barracuda convertibles? Or Dick Simon's '67 Fairlane convertible 427 automatic?
But that rule only applies to Fords and Mopars. The '67 Corvette L88 was in the class guide for years until someone decided to race it. Then it was removed.

I consider the hitch as bolt in ballast.
My become the new hot item.

These boys are BONE stock and unrestored so I will not alter. One of eighteen auto (green) and one of thirty one stick (brown). BUT open season on four door. I just don't want to show up and be booted!!

1st, i think you have a letter in your possession that may have already banned you from competition.

1A if it is in the guide, run it.

2nd the paint will not be a problem if you clear coat it. PPG industries has a paint Patina package that sure looks like your car.

3rd, hitch looks like a bolt on, so that might be the only problem.

good luck, cannot wait to see this car run with a reher morrison hemi.

In case you took me seriously, the paint rule was a joke...

This isn't. I found it on the web:
Quote:

1. There were 55,683 1966 Dodge Coronet 500s sold.
2. 360 of those were Hemi powered, of which 21 were convertibles.
3. Hemi breakout, ’66 Coronet 500:
> 204 4-speed hardtops
> 12 4-speed convertibles
> 135 Automatic hardtops
> 9 Automatic convertibles
All street Hemi blocks, 1966-‘71 were engineering P/N (“casting”) 2468330, as were the ’64-’65 castings, and even MP replacements (with a “M” suffix added to those).
Based on the above, you have a pretty rare car. An automatic hardtop HEMI represents less than 1/4 of %1 of the production run.

The 66 Coronet 500 4 door with the 426 HEMI is, indeed, in the NHRA Stock Car Classification Guide.
