NHRA fuel check
What are you Stock and Super Stock racers using for the required fuel check? New to Stock racing.
Thanks |

This looks like it just pulls a sample from the tank. Thanks, Bill |

Re: NHRA fuel check
"Pumps/Valves: Cars equipped with carburetor(s) or nonelectronic
fuel (EFI) systems but with mechanical non-OEM fuel pumps must have a quick-action fuel-shutoff valve within easy reach of driver and located in the main fuel line between the fuel tank and the carburetor and/or injectors. Fuel recirculation systems not part of normal fuel/pump system prohibited. All cars in Stock, Super Stock, Competition, and Pro Stock must be equipped with a positive-lock drain valve located between the fuel tank and the carburetor(s) or fuel injector to facilitate removal of fuel samples for fuel-check purposes." |

Re: NHRA fuel check
Will pump gas fail?
|
Re: NHRA fuel check
Is it on the approved list?
|
Re: NHRA fuel check
approved ? wow, this shouldn't be rocket science.
|
Re: NHRA fuel check
The fuel has to be on the approved list. What's the big deal? They have to have a known good sample for comparison. They need to know the specific gravity, etc. Pump gas is all over the place. If you have not checked that stuff, it is easy to understand you not knowing that. Those tech people don't have it all that easy. I have done that at a local series. I try to work with them, and not give them any crap. Just follow the rules. They did not write them.

Is there an advantage which blend over another?

Re: NHRA fuel check
Sorry. Thought you were talking about the valve needing to be approved. :D
as said protecting the lever or button should do the trick. Quote:

If you have a Pure Stocker, NHRA rules should be no issue anyway. :-) |

Iron Head LT1, 87 Bryan Herter Performance Tune with no problems. Towing over Appalachian Mountains fill up with 93 Flatter land routes such as Capitol, MIR, Cecil 87, etc works fine. Hot days use 89 or 93. Since GT, CM or Stock require approved fuels. Own a home in Suburbs. Considering buying about 10 cans of Sunoco 260 GTX for a season. How and what are the best practices to safely store this fuel? I know my wife will be concerned. D |

Sorry for the hijack. Dan, as I remember, years ago guys were putting various forms of rocket fuel (Hydrazine? I don't remember.) in their gas. Fuel check stopped that. Pump gas got caught up in the fray. I knew a guy with a 273 2 bbl U/SA car (Mike Smith rip) who ran pump gas until then. Race gas increased his racing budget about 50%. lol But that's another story... |

Going to Stock will be $55 to $100 a day ! Depending on how many runs that day. Been wonderful filling up the 23 gallon tank with 93. Works fine for my combination. Pure Sunoco did not increase HP over the street gas. Car loses about 5 lbs per run !! Already have an 8 Gallon tank built. Will have to add a petcock to drain the 93 out for Bracket racing. D |
