MIR IHRA STOCK - Tough Weekend
 

What a hot weekend.
Got to the track early Friday expecting the big storm coming through.
Hooked up with Mike Bolton and we parked together.
Helped him get set up with his camper.

My stuff was fairly easy.
Put everything away that could get wet or blown away.

Left for the motel just before the rain started.
The rain came down in buckets.
Got a good car washing though.
Got to hotel, showed, rain had passed and ate at Apple Bees.
Watched a Gold Cup Soccer Game.

Saturday; Track 8am, wiped down the Impala SS from last nights rain.
Made a great Q1 pass cutting a perfect light. 000 against the J/CM Maverick.
Qualified for bottom half of field again.
First round got Dave Ribiero and his O/SA Pontiac who qualified 4th.
Staging the car pushed through the Beams and went -.006 Red.
Twice that has happened.

Well at least got to the first round.
Mike Bolton's 1965 Barracuda Q1 run had engine trouble.
Discovered that one valve dropped.
Pulled the head and the block was fine.
So Mike and I spend the rest of the day getting a new head and putting it on.
At a NAPA getting parts met his friends who knew all of our ECIRS racers.
That was a fun meeting.

About 10pm all was good, the engine started and ran strong.
Talk about being tired.
Mike was running on gas because he worked the night before.

Sunday woke up and was tired.
Sore for bending over no Ibuprofen.
Paired with Pie Dent. Who won the meet.
Had a hard time seeing the Lights from the morning Sun Direction.
Cut a poor light and running 13.03 well under my dial.
Pie cut a .031 light and ran exactly on his Dial.
Well now we are 1 and 1.

Got home about 3pm. Traffic on 495 was a pain.
In fact traffic was busy every where.
Few car guys had conversations with me when stopped.
That was cool.

Well that was my weekend.
Not sure if Empire is in the cards for racing.
Interesting Super Chevy Show is same day at MIR.
