Call Reher & Morrison. David put me onto Isky Red Zones when I was having lifter problems. They have built a lot of big block Chevies, I would expect them to know. They may have something better now.

What Ed says
I run Isky 842's in my 358 bracket motor |
Re: Need Some Input With BBC Roller Lifters
Morrel have been the best for me. Make sure what ever brand you buy has the high pressure pin oiling feature. Also years ago I quit using street car motor oil. I only use a premium quality racing motor oil. Haven't had any lifter problems since.

Re: Need Some Input With BBC Roller Lifters
I ran Crower HIPPO lifters for many years, changing them out at each freshen. Never a problem.
One season I tried to save a few bucks and used Comp Cams lifters. Lost on in August of their first season, and had to tear everything down for cleanup. I now use the bushed lifters rather than those with needle bearings. I have Isky .842 in one engine and Crower Enduramax .937 in the other. The Iskys went 2.5 seasons before a freshen, and I put them back in where they have run another season. I haven't made enough passes with the Crower to say anything either way, but so far so good. |

Bushed lifters are the way to go. They just wear and destroy parts like when a needle bearings go away

I tend to go with the Morel lifters if your going to run an .842 lifter as they are to OEM size. ISKY, Crower and Comp lifters run to small to put in an OEM lifter bore. I have found that ISKY lifters have alllllllways had a sizing issues some times it has taken up to 3 sets to make up one set to get the sizing correct, Do a simple search on this problem. If your dealing with an old GM casting you may find the lifters maybe warn do to push rod angles. For a more dependable lifter go with a .904 lifter bigger body, axle and with the .810 wheel less revolutions around the lobe. What ever lifter you buy measure every lifter and check each lifter bore for the proper clearance. Good luck which ever way you go. |

.0014 to .002 is what I shoot for and has been working for me so far. Its really not a Chevy lifter its more of a AMC lifter. He is a good video to watch as there is no standard on sizing between roller lifter companies https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpfOKr3B3FA |
