Re: Hooray!
So do some of the 340s AND Edelbrock 383s AND 440s.
Bottom line, they were sold as Mopar Hustle Stuff. |

Now back to the original 2 speed power glides in those chebbies.
|
Re: Hooray!
Might as well smash the hell out of the combo now!!! Or will NHRA hold the original combo parts to the same numbers?
Far from a Mopar guy but I would be so mad if they yanked the plug on parts I dumped money on! Just seems so wrong to tell Racer’s “it’s good” then pull the rug out from under your feet! WOW! |
Re: Hooray!
Chuck, along with the 3spd. allowed in the Drag Packs. lol Rick.

Re: Hooray!
I just spent a ton of money to rebuild a 340 stocker with the LD340 intake to be somewhat competitive and to get a car back out to support NHRA class racing and this is the thanks we get in return. Thank you.

Re: Hooray!
Send your "Thanks" to the folks at the NHRA Tech Dept.!!

Hooray for some I guess. Might as well spread the joy. Original transmissions, original rearends, Roller rockers, Bee hive springs, 375/396 pistons. I'm sure the list could grow like wild fire.
I'm alright with the intake and it actual effected me personally. But try and remember that money was wasted here. As my Dad always told me. "If you have nothing good to say. Keep it to yourself." Paul Haszlauer ?/SA 7019 |

Re: Hooray!
The Edelbrock RB4 AMC manifold also came with an AMC part number and it was also approved and later removed. As per the Mopar manifold, it was sold as an over the counter part.

Re: Hooray!
Again It did effect me. So I guess I paid my share. Do I win a prize? Haven't seen many things get taken away like this. I guess Chrysler didn't have the check this box for Aluminum intake. I'll get over it. The folks that Billy said spent the money to keep up must be faster now and get to stay faster anyway. good for them. Sorry you spent money.

Hey, I'm OK with going back to the "valve spring" rule or at least a 150# seat rule. That'll will fix things in a REAL hurry! |

Better strip all the Metric 200s C-4s, solid rear axles in corvettes, aftermarket heads for everyone and all the other super ceded intake manifolds (which there are plenty besides the mopars). Valve springs too while you are at it cant agree more. |

Re: Hooray!
I for one don’t feel sorry that bougus parts that were pushed though the buddy system are now rescinded. The NHRA has been telling me to go FXXk myself for years trying to get replacement parts for the combo that I run. I could buy 10 of those intakes for what it cost to buy a set of castings for my car. Oh well, guess you will have to work with the original parts. Welcome to stock eleminator

Re: Hooray!
How's about fixing the biggest hosing in Stock Elim.? Put all the new FX cars either in SS or FFX Elim.
|
Re: Hooray!
That manifold should of never been approved. It never came on a car and was not a replacement part but a high performance piece from the direct connection catalog. The description in the old DC catalog says that it’s perfect for super stock or modified. This was just like letting the AMC guys have a 780 Holley for their 290 Inch motors. NHRA needs to be more knowledgeable about these older combinations, there are still a couple of guys around that know and they should use their knowledge to keep from making these mistakes.
On another note if you see any of the Chevy guys running the new Edlebrock heads, ask them how they got to the right runner volume. 185 cc intake runners don’t get to be 165 without some serious work. |
Re: Hooray!
And those Chebbies that came with 2 speeds should never have been given 3 speeds, just sayin'.

LOL.......Thanks for the chuckle. Most of the old guys that knew this stuff have either retired, gotten PO'ed and quit, or died ! The "King Tutts" at NHRA would not listen anyway ! |
