Delay Box suggestions

I've been looking at delay boxs for awhile and i'm looking for suggestion on brand and what you the guys who use you all the time like.the car gets used in a local heads up series .500 pro tree runs the occasional index class and local special event type bracket races mopar days or what have you. before we've always ran no-e but with the addition or trans-brake and 2 step it only makes since to put a delay box in the car. budget is important i'd like to stay under 500 dollars i've looked at K&R and Biondo mainly open to all recommendations

Personally, I'd stick with the two brands that you mentioned. I've used both and can't fully recommend one over the other. For example, I like that the Mega series can display the delay settings and dial-ins all on the same screen. But I also prefer the adjustment method on the K+R boxes, where each digit has a little switch beneath it.

You may also think about where you are going to mount the box and if having the wire terminal strip on the bottom or side would work better.

One small thing to consider is that the K+R boxes use +12V to the transbrake button, while the Digital Delay/Biondo boxes use Ground to the button. That becomes important if you are going to remove the box but still use the transbrake button. There is a very simple/cool way to wire the box so that the button will switch from Ground to +12V after removing the box and inserting the 'dummy plug.'

That is very interesting i've been trying to imagine how to make the box easily removable and leave the t-brake still working correctly.

Check out this thread for the easiest way to wire a Biondo box:

For a K+R (or Dedenbear, for that matter), your 'dummy plug' would simply have the wires that went to the 'Button' and 'Transbrake' terminals on the delay box tied together.

If button polarity is important to you (it really shouldn't be), make sure you go to the manufacturer's website and download the manual to verify it. Some of the lower numbered Biondo boxes do use +12V to the button. I believe all of the K+R and Dedenbear boxes use +12V, but I'm not 100% sure.

Can't beat the K&R box for east of use and dependability . I feel the display is much easier to see in daylight , and switching screens to change delay or timer settings is easier than almost any other box.
Especially for those last minuet delay adjustments when the starter decides to spray the bald spots on the starting line when you are in the burnout box.

Been using a K & R for the past 5/years. Before that it was a Biondo 450.
Both are top of the line in my book......

They work just fine, but I feel like they are a little behind the times. I'm not aware of missing features, but screen size and ease of use leave something to be desired compared to Digital Delay and K+R.

If they were priced lower than the others, then they would be a consideration. But they aren't.

I just picked up a new Dedenbear RTD7 for under $200 from Summit. Will work perfect for my uses.
