Fuel sample valve - need help

Running into a big hold up on the smallest of things. The fuel sample valve.

I purchased the Jegs fuel sample valve with the 1/8th NPT thread and can't figure out a safe way to have it installed. The shop doing the work on all the other stuff didn't want to do that aspect due to fuel injection being higher pressure.

This is for my DF/S 2007 Chevy Cobalt with the 2.2 liter Ecotec for any readers who didn't know that from the Classracer Builds section. It is a rubber fuel line from the firewall to the fuel rail and at the fuel rail end it is permanently attached (meaning I can't just unscrew it).

How do we go about getting this done? Is there anyone in the Houston area that can assist?

Re: Fuel sample valve - need help

Is this the type of fuel system that doesn't have a fuel return up in the engine compartment ? I think the factory had the return and possibly the regulator back by the fuel tank . You may want to re-engineer that so it is similar to the old LT1 , which regulated fuel pressure on the return side of the fuel rail . Once you do that , the fuel sample valve will be easy to plumb in . That will then be similar to how I plumbed up my Oldsmobile Quad 4 .

I have my fuel sample valve tapped into the fuel return line on my LT1. I also have a button near it, to push to run the pump for filling the fuel sample cup. Just a universal starter button. Both under the hood. Quick, simple fuel sample.

Mike, You should have a pressure test port there somewhere.
This is how I did it on the Monte. I removed the Schrader valve and adapted an AN type fitting that changed everything over to 1/8th pipe. Then the sample valve on a tee and then onto a braided hose to the cowl mounted pressure guage, which you're going to need anyway. Yes, also an under the hood mounted fuel pressure relay feed switch.

Thanks all for the replies.

We wound up doing what Mark suggested.

And now I know for the next one. LOL

I use a stainless ball valve off of the regulator. I have used same ball valve since the 1990's
