What Superstock class fits for a 1968 camaro

Guys some hep here. What superstock class fits a 1968 camaro with the 327 or the 350,considering converting a IHRA crate motor combo to a superstock combo due to minitubbing of the existing car.Thanx

The 350 should I believe would be SS/H and the the 327 would fit SS/I. Check out classracerinfo.com for other factors such as possibly GT classes.

Both would be good combo as would 396......none would be cheap!

Is anybody running an LS or LT whatever in these older Camaros in GT yet? Are the GT factors too tough because of all of the jelly bean cars? I know there are a few new Hemi's in old Barracudas running GT already.

The jelly bean cars are front wheel drive and have a different factor(s). So if the rear drives are beat up, its not the jelly beans fault. Unless it happened before the rule change. And several combos got clobbered beforehand ...

With a 350 295/313 HP engine the 68 Camaro is a natural SS/HA car. It can run SS/GA & SS/IA.

With a 327 275/295hp engine a 68 Camaro is a natural SS/IA car. It can run SS/HA and SS/JA.

Take in to consideration hood choices. 350 combo you run the 3/4" raised SS hood with louvers. 327 combo is flat hood only.

We run a 68 camaro in SS. We have a 327/295hp engine in it , we run it in SS/JA (you also don’t need a certified cage to run in “J”. Car can fit SS/IA by taking some weight out but your cage will need to be certified. You also can run a 350/300hp which will fit SS/IA and SS/HA. Both of these combos are pretty expensive to go fast and still costly to run the index in that car because of the weight you have to carry. Big block you can run a 396 (haven’t looked into that before for the 68 so not much help). If I was just starting out, I’d look at a GT class for that car as it might be slightly less costly (still not cheap unfortunately). If you want to talk about anything or have specific questions you can absolutely give me a call or send me a message

Anyone have any suggestions on GT combinations ? Can the crate motor be used (350ci 330hp) by swooping the vortec heads for a NHRA legal replacement head ? The way I read GT can use any intake and any cam ? All suggestions welcome.

I can run SSGA of SSHA with the 350 or SS/IA with the 327 in my 68. I have the 327 in it now and seems a bit more competitive than the 350. The 327 can run either the SS hood or the flat hood. The 350 has to run the SS hood. The 396 is an option as well that runs E or F
