Its in an 83 Camaro with a 327. I just bought the car not sure about the trans. How can I tell what type it is. I was assuming it was a 350,

I took the pan off today and its a TH350. I can match up the gasket but the filter doesn't look like a normal 350 filter. Anyone have info on where to get a filter?

Re: Pro trans help

I use a mesh style filter on my 350's with a deep pan with a filter extension. I've used Type F and standard Dexron/Mercon and don't see any difference. Dexron is supposed to lube better and a 350 has a lot of bushings, washers and gears so the lubrication properties are important.

Re: Pro trans help

Lots of 350 deep pan deals use a Mopar filter with an adapter.
I really don't speak that language, but I I think it's a 904..If not a 727 ..One or the other.

904 and 727 use the same filter. Pan gasket is different

Re: Pro trans help

Some use a bottom opening filter which I think is adapted from a 518 .

Re: Pro trans help

Do your filter and your trans a favor and put a couple of magnets in the pan. If it's an aluminum pan JB weld them in.

Re: Pro trans help

Thanks for all the help. It ended up being a filter from a 518. Great advice on the magnets too. I will definitely epoxy a couple to the bottom of the pan.
