1969 Yenko Camaro 427
In 69 or 70 would the Yenko cars have been S/S legal? I was discussing this with a friend and he thought they would have been SS/B cars and the COPO's were SS/D ? Were enough cars built to even be legal then ? Thanks.

The Yenkos were COPO cars. They ran SS/D or DA just like any other COPO. ZL1's ran in C, and B was still '68 Hemi Dart/Cuda territory in 1969. 1970, everything shifted a class up.

The COPO 9561 was a basic Camaro sport coupe, converted by the dealership to include a 427 cubic inch iron block with 425 horsepower.
1,015 COPO 9561s were made by GM and delivered to dealerships, including 201 to Yenko Chevrolet. |
