Onan 8K quiet Diesel
 

Tried to start the generator in my toter last night. when I press the start button the fuel pump comes on as usual but the starter does not. I checked the battery connections and the fuses. Any other ideas on where to look. It was giving me a 32 fault code. Worked perfect a couple of weeks ago.

Those units have a Bosch type relay for the starter. They had a service bulletin about relays not being sealed and getting dirt on the contacts inside. There are 3 relays mounted up inside behind the start switch area. They are in a tough spot to get to but you can get in there....Tap on them while you try to start it....see if it cranks.....If it does you need to figure out which relay is for the starter and change it....

They are numbered 1-2-3 and but I don't recall which number the starter relay is called.....

Thanks for the reply Rich. That is some good info. I pulled the front panel and found the wire to the solenoid had come out of the connector. Looks like a faulty connection from the factory. Put a new connector on the wire and it cranked right up. That sure made me happy.

Great....Glad to help and happy it was that relay/wiring. A Minor issue but can be a major problem to get to it and fix it...and many times it's not minor.
