Caltrac split mono

Had anyone ever seen a split mono wear out? Ive had the springs for 11 years now just wondering if anyone has had an issue with a set wearing out. Been through the car several times now changing out components im missing a few in the 60ft and the car barely uses the wheelie bar anymore. Just doesnt have the reaction it used to have. Ive tried moving the bars up and down, different preload settings, different shock settings with no luck. Changed the cage and made the car way more stiffer and all my problems started. 10 second stocker...used to go high 1.30s in 60ft with the nose way in the air to or passed the 60ft and now constant 1.41 to 1 44 with about a foot of air under the tire. AFCO BNC fronts, moroso springs, global bushings, Calvert rear setup with rancho 9 ways set at 7 clicks. Shocks seem fine and react to adjustment. Just cant sort it out. Car previously had a mild steel 10 point and now has a CM 10 point with no bars passes the firewall. Cage is tied to the A pillars in the dash area.

Re: Caltrac split mono

I have a bracket car with the Calvert springs.
It's a 7.0 1/8 mile car.
Thought I had a problem with them once, this car sees a lot of racing & I thought they were worn.
Before I tore it apart, I purchased new rear segments, same as what was on the car.
When I tore it down, found a spring perch had broken loose from the weld.
Went ahead & put the new rear segments in.
Found the car sat 1" higher with the new segments.
So, I guess they can wear some over time.

I had the bolt that runs through the springs and centers the perch shear off yesterday. Tech snagged me in the waterbox because the RR tire was shifting around. Would have slashed the pass tire if he hadn't caught it. Springs had been in the car since 2014. New bolt fixed it.

PS Thanks to the tech at Bremerton for bring sharp. It's an airport strip that has been in operation since the 1950s. Run by a car club and a real step back in time.

Mine settled over time (roughly 12 years) so I did replace the back half with a little more arch than the stock spec for my car.

Never saw a difference on the timeslip; just the outer tire to quarterpanel clearance.

We have seen only very minor ride height changes over 10 plus years
but never any 60 ft. change. My Demon probably has 1000 passes
on it and never changed the springs. John Calvert makes well engineered
products and has exceptional integrity!

If you haven't yet, and you have an automatic, you might want to think about looking at your converter. Had the same problem your describing and after many $$ and a couple of months it turned out to be the converter although it stalled up the same rpm as it did new. Never had any problems with my Caltracts in 10 years of use.
