Block question
I've been trying to find an aftermarket block for my 55 chevy which runs in SS/O. According to their online acceptable parts list the Gm replacement block is suppose to be 10051183 which does not show up in a search on gmperformanceparts.
I did find the specs on this block and it seems to be a 2 bolt main 1pc rear main seal, and from what I've seen its been discontinued. What Id like to have is a 4 bolt main block with a 2 pc seal. |

Re: Block question
Here is a link I found, you can add the block to a shopping cart but that is as far as I went, Henry.
http://gmperformancepartszone.com/bo...83-p-5637.html This site says you can use a two piece seal with an adapter, http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/perform...CATID=628.html |

I also went to a place to find out why I couldn't pull this block up on the gmperformanceparts website and found that some places had the block in stock. While I was looking for the block though I noticed somewhere someone mentioned the 10051183 had been discontinued which is why I was asking. I figured that if it had been discontinued there must have been another block that was acceptable. http://www.sdparts.com/ I think thats where I found it the first time. I don't know whether they are a dealership or not, was just there for information. |

Re: Block question
Ricoch3T, I think you want part # 10051181 not 10051183; 181 is 2 bolt main small bore, the 183 is 4 in. bore, Tom
