Re: 1977 NHRA Records
It looks like the last 2 sheets are Super-Stock Manual car and Stock-Class automatic?
Under what I think is SS/C=7.00 (the classes got cut off that page) it says 64 Fairlane (at 132.35mph), it looks like the Thunderbolts had returned by then? I forgot how many SS/ classes there were by then but sure it a lot of cars on that page. I don't have a 1977 rule book so just guessing. The last page shows a 72 Comet under X/SA=23.00 class. That specs out to a 200i6-1bbl Comet with 91 net HP. Was NHRA actually mixing GROSS hp (1955-1971) with NET hp (1972-up) in those days? That would make for some funny factoring. EDIT: Tom thanks for the Comet picture and posting SS/AA-SS/UA also. The classes are still cut off the1st page but easy to figure out, they're just SS/A-SS/U stick classes. Makes sense. |

Apparently, these were the records at the beginning of '77, since the latest records were set in Nov of '76.
The reason I noticed this is because I knew that the H-O Racing Specialties SD455 T/A set the SS/KA record at 11.31, in March of '77. But when I looked for it, that class rec was "Minimum". |
