Jerico 5spd with LONG V-Gate

We are having trouble with Jerico clutchtype 5-speed going from 3rd to 2nd gear, when upshifting to 4th. Shifter is LONG vertical gate and it stucks in the vertical slot and 2nd gear goes in.

Car is year 2000 B/Stock Firebird LS-1.

It is correctly adjusted with 1/4 pin.

Any ideas?

I had similar issues with my Jerico/Long 4 speed. Call Long and ask for Mike (owners son). They put things on my shifter that made it impossible for it to not upshift. Been OK ever since.

Re: Jerico 5spd with Jerico V-Gate

Sorry - I have double post on this issue. Whole story is here:

http://classracer.com/classforum/showthread.php?t=53835

It turned out to be Jerico Shifter. I made this post on Comp Forum in hope, that there is more Jerico 5-speed users online.

I have quoted a complete shifter from G-Force. At least they have common website with LONG.

Problem is still there and material has been added(weld) / removed / added. No results yet.

I have found that i cant use the pin to adjust lingage, the slot in the 4/5th shifter plate must be rolled forward a bit, when the pin in the shifter trys to fall , it gets caught,

we had a similar situation with one of these type trans where the driver was sitting too far back and could not maintain pressure on the shifter and it would drop down in the notch when he relaxed and go to another gear when he pushed it forward. A 3/4 pad on the back of the shifter helped us determine that this was the problem. Scott
