Chevy Colorado engine swap headers
I am beginning to build a 2004 - 2012 Chevy Colorado [1st gen Colorado]. This is a clean sheet so far, with the availability of headers being a possible influence on engine choice. I see plenty of LS engine headers, but so far, I do not see any first-gen small block headers. [which is my first choice of engines because of my experience and because of having most of the parts on hand to build one]
This will be a relatively mild, foot brake build-up for my Daughter and some of the grandchildren. Some of which maybe be good race drivers. Does anyone have experience with this package? |

larry--- look at "hot rod" headers like on a 55-57 chevy or a street rod --Dick

Dick, I expect some off-the-shelf header will fit, and as you suggested, it does not need to be a race header. I know this would be a good time to break into the LS engine movement. However, I am old and have so many years of experience with the first-gen small block and have many parts on hand to build one.
I have 5 grandchildren, and 3 of them want to test the waters, plus my daughter. Colorado will be a good, safe platform for them. It is a "racer in the rough" just now, but I have been known to revive such projects :) |
Re: Chevy Colorado engine swap headers
The Super 10 build had a set of fender well headers build by Vick Custer[East Texas Race cars]. I still have those headers, and they may be the ticket.
My first thought is Cal-tracks and the widest radial tire that will fit with only minor trimming. I have a 12 bolt core to be narrowed to the correct dimensions. |
