Would you buy a 2016 Chevy Malibu Turbo?
So am I too old but my wife wants a '16 Malibu LT 4cyl. I was good with that until I started reading about them and discovered they are 1.5 litre or 2.0 litre turbo charged engines. I always think of a turbo on a small car engine as a ticking time bomb. Yes it has a factory warranty but are these things going to last or should we look elsewhere. The Regal is also turbo ... Impala is too big for our garage. Help !

Re: 2016 Chevy Malibu Turbo
Just rented one, got 17 MPG driving 75-80mph on I-40. Had turbo lag when passing. Engine shuts off at red lights and restarts, strange but worked fine. Car rode nice and was quiet inside. That little engine seems like a problem in waiting.

Re: 2016 Chevy Malibu Turbo
My wife has a 2007 Saab that has a 2.0 l turbo. Basically an ecotech engine because GM owned them at the time. We bought it as a car traded in after the lease is up when SAAB was going down. Anyway, it now has over 150k on it. It runs well and has given no trouble. Averages 28 mpg combines and will go 35 mpg if you set the cruise on a long trip. I am not sure about which one, but my wife's next car will likely be a turbo four banger. I run synthetic oil, but other than that, nothing special. I like it

Re: 2016 Chevy Malibu Turbo
So far so good my wife loves it. We are taking it back to GM dealer for the recall about pre-ignition and melting pistons.
