Race 5 & 6 Update

2 Attachment(s)
Due to a cancellation of the November race date at Wild Horse Pass, United Engine and Machine Arizona Stock/Super Stock race 5 and 6 are this coming Saturday 10/21 at Tucson Dragway. Race 5 is presented by Bill Nelson's Automotive Services, and Race 6 is presented by CKR Fab Works. Thanks to our sponsors there will be $500 in the purse for each race before a single car enters.

The full payout schedule can be found in the "Rules and Membership Form" thread. There will be a best losing package prize for rounds 1, 2, 3 and 4 at each race. Bill Nelson will also be sponsoring the best overall package for race 5.

Gates open 8am and the track is hot at 10 am. We will make two qualifying passes for race 5. We will run one qualifying pass for race 6 with the finals of race 5 and go immediately into eliminations so we can get both races in.

There is a $30 gate fee and $50 race entry fee at the AZSSSA trailer for each race. Please bring cash for the AZSSSA fee.

We would like to thank Tucson Dragway, Bill Nelson of Bill Nelson's Automotive Services, and Lloyd Coker of CKR Fab Works for working with us to make sure we were able to get both events scheduled. We are looking forward to another great weekend as we crown the 2017 United Engine and Machine AZ Stock/SS Association champion!

Thanks for keeping everyone in the loop Nick! For those of you without Facebook, here are the results from the last two races.

On October 21st, the United Engine and Machine AZ Stock/Super Stock Association had Bill Nelson’s Automotive Service Race #5 and CKR Fab Works Race #6. We had 20 cars run race #5 and 17 racers stuck around to race into the night for race #6 to close out our 2017 season. After this weekend we had a total of 33 different racers participate during the season. We would like to thank all of the racers for supporting us throughout the year and also thank everyone for coming out to run the two events in one day.

Here are some quick results from the two races:

Race #5 presented by Bill Nelson’s Automotive Service:
We had 20 cars show up for the first race of the day, and #1 Qualifier was Mike Graham with a .001 light. Mike received a Gold Shine kit and California car duster from California Car Cover for his #1 qualifying effort.

After previously having 2 runner up finishes earlier in the year, Alex Kadar broke through and got the win in his front wheel drive CF/S Monte Carlo over Al Corda. For his win, Alex gets a custom fit car cover from California Car Cover along with a gift certificate from Ultimate Converter. Al received a gift certificate from Ultimate Converter for his runner-up effort. The lone semi-finalist was Mike Cotten. Mike was also the winner of $25 from the Nick Johnoff perfect light prize when he caught a .000 light second round.

Bill Nelson also sponsored the best overall package for race #6. Mike Graham took home the $100 prize from Bill with his .032 package in first round.

Race #6 presented by CKR Fab Works:
After a long morning getting through our first race, we had 17 cars stick around to race into the night for the final race of the 2017 season. For the second race in a row #1 Qualifier was Mike Graham, this time with a .004 reaction time. He received a second Gold Shine Kit and California car duster from California Car Cover for his qualifying effort.

Dennis Alvey was the winner of race 6 when he beat Al Corda who was runner up for the second time in one day. This was the third time this year a stick shift won. After 40 years of racing this was Dennis’s first win. Congrats Dennis, we are so happy for you! Dennis gets a custom fit car cover from California Car Cover and a gift certificate from Ultimate Converter for his win. Al received another gift certificate from Ultimate Converter for his runner up. Once again, Mike Cotton was the lone semi-finalist. Greg Luneack was the winner of the final $25 of the year for the Nick Johnoff perfect light prize when he went .000 first round.

The Best losing Package awards for each race were as follows:

Race #5:
Rd 1 – Greg Luneack: Gold Shine Kit and Duster from California Car Cover
Rd 2 – Mike Graham: Richardson Boyz Racing gift certificate
Rd 3 – Harry Doolittle: Drag Race Solutions gift certificate
Rd 4 – Mike Cotten: Lucas Oil product

Race #6:
Rd 1 – Bill North: Gold Shine Kit and Duster from California Car Cover
Rd 2 – Alex Kadar: Richardson Boyz Racing gift certificate
Rd 3 – Greg Luneack: Drag Race Solutions gift certificate
Rd 4 – Mike Cotten: Lucas Oil product

Payouts for race 5 (They split in the finals and raced for $100, points, and a trophy):
Alex Kadar--$675
Al Corda--$575
Mike Cotten--$105
Harry Doolittle--$105
Bill North--$40

Payouts for race 6:
Dennis Alvey--$850
Al Corda--$350
Mike Cotten--$75
Greg Luneack--$75

The 2017 championship came down to the last race of the year. It was decided second round when first and second place had to race each other. Going into the round Al Corda and Alex Kadar were separated by qualifying points and the winner of the round would get a bye run in round 3 shutting out any chance of anyone being able to catch up. Al edged out Alex to become the 2017 United Engine and Machine AZ stock/Super Stock champion. Congrats to Al on his championship and to Alex for a great season coming in second place.

We would like to throw out another BIG THANK YOU to everyone for coming out and getting both races completed on Saturday along with the great support all year. We are working on putting together a banquet and will send out details as soon as we can. We are also working on details for the 2018 season and will send out a schedule as soon as we have it finalized.

Congrats to all of our winners! Thanks for a great first year. We look

forward to next year.
