1968 Dodge Dart Street Strip car

6 Attachment(s)
This is My 1968 Dart Project.

I bought it 2 years ago In ct. for $2,200

I originally Planned to just do a regular GTS clone with a 360 and mostly stock everything. I also did not intend on getting this deep in on this project. The car started out as a Original Paint Little old ladies 1968 dart with a running 225 slant in it,

We tore the thing apart in no time and either sold or junked everything we are not going to use, (front suspension, Motor, Trans, Rear suspension ect ect.

We have gotten It media blasted and it is soon to be on its way to the body shop.

Heres the plan for it,

1968 Dart

Built 340 (already have) 510hp
Bulit TSR 727 trans with brake

Tubular QA1 Mopar torsion bar K-Frame with all Tubular parts.

4 wheel Areospace disc Brakes

Built Moser Dana 60

Complete Caltrac setup

The car will be Mini tubbed with a 14 Inch tire on the back and skinnies up front.

Now this dart is not a full time race call but WILL be taken to the track.

Heres some pics, starting at the PO house

Have fun with it, but if you keep tab on the costs you will get discouraged lol.

Re: 1968 Dodge Dart Street Strip car

Ok it's scheduled for the body shop Wednesday!! I can't wait . They are going to give it back to me after they get the doors finished, quarters on and finished, trunk/quarter extensions in , roof finished, trunk pan in and the and engine bay finished and all in epoxy primer.. We finished off some of the engine bay/inner fenders yesterday and seam sealed and primed the frame connectors/torque boxes. They quoted me $1,500 for all that work... By far the cheapest for the best. We had our stocker painted and quarters put on ect by them before and the end price was $4,800 and it looks better then the past shop we used to use that quoted $11,000. I got quoted $4,500 for my car done from this shop. It just amazes me you can get better work for less money. When we get it back it won't go back to the body shop until we have the car rolling with all new suspension, mock up engine and trans, wheels and tires , and everything else that we might have a problem with after it is painted. I'm shooting for June/early July in paint

Re: 1968 Dodge Dart Street Strip car

Got the front end parts yesterday

Got the K-member and lower control arms yesterday. I was sick so I didn't open them right away.

I opened them this morning and I am MORE then pleased. The quality is AMAZING and they look super cool http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/...ies/3gears.gif

One thing I have to say though is DO not get these if you are planning on loosing weight ... these are just as heavy if not heavier then stock.

The K frame uses the stock steering box and torsion bars. The powder coat quality is Absolute Beautiful.

Like I said I am more then pleased and the shipping was REALLY fast.

Here are some pictures for viewing benefits. http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/...ies/happy1.gif

I was reading your story, I like what your doing, I'm in the middle of a similar build on a 67 GT. Did you sell your 340, if not I am interested.
