I recently bought a really nice R2 and just curious if back in the day did anyone run one of these?

I know its a weird combo but I like the wired combos....

There was a supercharged Lark in New Jersey in the 70's..It ran G/Stock, I believe.
Probably a good car still, but no Studebaker section in the guide anymore.

Wow! I thought those were SO cool when they were new! Are those cars valuable now? I would have thought that now they would be collectors cars? Be neat just to have one.

Bob Dwyer of Precision Auto machine in Ft Lauderdale ran a blown 63 Lark in SS/IA back in the early 70s, ran low 11s at Miami/Hollywood

Ted Harbit is running the FAST series with a '63. Watched him go low 13's today at the NMCA Norwalk.

That's pretty fast. We could go mid to low 11's in SS/JA at that time with SBC's.

Problem with a supercharger vs. turbo is there's no free lunch /open ticket. Pulleys have to be stock size.
Of course, the waste gate can be "adjusted". Anybody know how much a McCulloch /Paxton will make, pushing thru an AFB?

Didn't some of those engines have a steel camshaft? Seems I remember hearing that at one time. Interesting about the Stude V-8's, in the early 50's, a Kettering Overhead Valve V-8 was designed and put on paper , and three US manufacturers bought the designs and made their own engine displacements from them, the 259/289 Stude, the 327 Rambler, and the 365-390 Cadillac. Seemed that a Cadillac powered Studebaker wasn't that unheard of. I guess parts interchangeability wasn't unheard of as far as heads and manifolds to put better heads and 4 barrel intakes on a Studebaker Lark, as well. Anybody out there do this?

Tech guys used to ride with Bob down the return road as he floored it to check boost. He would let it come up to stock specs and then slightly lift to maintain it. {what he told me} Why they did that instead of checking pulley sizes I cant answer. Boost was no where close to stock. Doesn't make sense but that's what it was, I saw it. He also pushed other areas off the charts too, like the Ford rear because no one knew what came in Studebakers {his quote}. It had home made epoxy adapters with a Chevy Edelbrock intake on it. He was really sharp but diabetes got the best of him. He also built the Crockagator 52 Studebaker stocker that Dempsey Hardy drove later on. We used to race Bob In Jr Stock with our P/S 59 Biscayne in the late 60s against the 52

NHRA seems to have "lost" all the spec's on everything "old" except chevs.
They told me Ford didn't file spec's before 1960. Doh! Didn't supercharged 57 Fords hold many National Records in the 60's? Studes must be a figment of our imagination ........
Studes used Dana rears, mostly model 44's.
BTW Ted Harbit is on street tires!

Ron.
