Oil Filter Relocation Kit

Can an external oil cooler and filter be used? Many cop cars or cars with tow packages had them. What's good for a 4dr car the same as a 2dr? I looked at the rule book,"Additional external plumbing prohibited." Do I need to have some factory documentation of a remote filter and cooler?

I had a 1980 Dodge DRW One ton with a 360 that had heavy-duty everything but I don't remember an oil cooler.

I remember lots of additional transmission coolers back in the day, but not any oil coolers.

What year / engine are you looking at?

Thanks,
Bill

Re: Oil Filter Relocation Kit

I came across a 1979 Volare that had a factory oil cooler, relocated oil filter and a tow hitch that was aftermarket. The remote oil filter assembly had a Chrysler star on it. I just installed a 318 into my stocker and had to use a mini filter to clear the headers. Just looking at it, I'd hate to change the filter after a pass or two.

I was told by the tech dept several years ago that only SS/GT is allowed a remote oil filter for engine installation in a different body.

Adding volume makes the pump work harder and it loses pressure. Why run and filter on a drag car anyway?
