3 Attachment(s)
i'd like one of these...with a blower

"This is not a joke and they do sell for $600.00.
They won’t be able to make them fast enough--good just to run around town.
Here's a car that will get you back and forth to work on the cheap...
$600 for the car. 258
miles per gallon...

Only a one seater
however- Talk about cheap transportation....
Volkswagen's $600 car gets 258
mpg--
It looks like Ford, Chrysler and GM missed the boat again!
China launches $600 car that will get
258mpg

This $600 car is no toy and is ready to be released in
China next year.

The single seater aero car totes VW (Volkswagen)
branding.

Volkswagen did a lot of very highly
protected testing of this car in Germany,
but it was not
announced until now where the car would make its first
appearance

The car was introduced at the VW stockholders meeting
as the most economical car in the world is presented.

The initial objective of the prototype was to prove
that 1 liter of fuel could deliver 100 kilos of travel.
Spartan interior doesn't
sacrifice safety

The
aero design proved essential to getting the desired result.
The body is 3.47 meters long and
just 1.25 meters wide, and a little over a meter high. The prototype was made
completely of carbon fiber
and is not painted to save weight.

The
power plant is a one cylinder diesel, positioned ahead of the rear
axle and combined with an
automatic shift controlled by a knob in the interior.

Safety was not compromised as the
impact and roll-over protection is comparable to the GT racing
cars.

The Most Economic Car in the
World will be on sale next year:

Better than Electric Car – 258 miles/gallon: IPO 2010
in Shanghai
This is a single-seat car
From conception to production: 3 years and the company
is headquartered in Hamburg , Germany .
Will be selling for 4000 Yuan, equivalent to US
$600..
Gas tank capacity = 1.7 gallons
Speed
= 62 – 74.6 Miles/hour
Fuel efficiency = 258
miles/gallon
Travel
distance with a full tank = 404 miles"

Gas tank capacity 1.7 gallons??? No, no, no,,, I'm thinking get them over here and lets install a 5 gallon (or bigger) fuel cell in it and forget about gas for a month or so!
Why can't we build something like this,,I'd rather buy American.

Because your President won't allow it! This thing will blow the electric car right out of the water! Watch, with tariffs, taxes and import fees this car will go from $600 to about $30,000! Jim

Re: got this emali....

This is why there are tariffs, taxes and fees on imports. The reasons for an industry or business being noncompetitive are basically four:
  • Their average wages may be higher than is typical in the competitor's country.
  • They do not have the innovations or inventions that their competitors have.
  • They do not have the skill sets or organization their competitors have.
  • They lack raw materials needed to make some product.
President also announced a new $1 billion National Community Deployment Challenge to help boost the deployment of clean, advanced vehicles all over America:
To cities and towns all across the country, what we’re going to say is, if you make a commitment to buy more advanced vehicles for your community -- whether they run on electricity or biofuels or natural gas -- we’ll help you cut through the red tape and build fueling stations nearby. And we’ll offer tax breaks to families that buy these cars, companies that buy alternative fuel trucks like the ones that are made right here at Mount Holly. So we’re going to give communities across the country more of an incentive to make the shift to more energy-efficient cars.

I don't see anything that is stuck to electric car alone!

I guess we will see how this car works out. I predict it will not be allowed in this country at an affordable price. Mark my words. Jim

Eddie, The problem is why dont we have the technology? Why dont we have the skills? Why is the president forcing companies to build in foreign countries by taxation?
With LESS taxation, Less government controls, less Socialism here OUR companies could produce HERE and we could compete without Big Brother having to TAX inports. They wouldnt be a better choice than MADE IN AMERICA

Great idea, and I would allow them in the car pool lane as an incentive.
I've been saying for years we need these little mini cars in the big cities to help save on space, traffic, pollution!!

Now I would never drive one, I would be scared to death some jack *** in a huge SUV doing her make up flattens me, but I'm all for it!!
It seems to work in Europe with their small box type cars, this is even better??

that's why i said "with a blower"
75 mph will get you run over out here....
but i'd drive one..wonder if they could be a "gray-market" car?

The Founding Fathers found it necessary to protect our businesses long before Obama. How many patents that could have saved the consumer billions have been bought up my investors and Big Oil?? Why did the Nash Metro (35mpg) go by the way-side. There are others factors involved here and it isn't always the big bad socialist government.

Even if they are NOT highway legal, or maybe right lane only??
We definitely need something here in Chicago.
Parking is insane, bikes do zero good 1/2 the year with the snow, cold, rain etc.
I know plenty of people that have a commute only vehicle.
For a price point like this, I would bet more would do it if they had space for it!!
Even people in the suburbs that have a non-highway commute, this would be perfect.

I'm just sick of being foreign oil dependent and will do whatever it takes to help.
I'm one of the guys that use more then his fair share of oil.
I have to drive a big 5 mpg special truck everyday for work.
I would love to drive a cheap vehicle like that out here in the boonies,
instead of using a gallon plus of diesel to go get milk & food.
