Help me ID a converter

I would appreciate any help I can get to identify a converter. Wife bought us a bracket car from a family friend and the little car got a bunch of mismatched parts, over the years. Car is a Mopar and has a 440 and Torqueflite under it.
The little 8 inch converter has ID stuff on it, starting with:
8TF 8 03
31233
Z313 45Z

This torque converter is WAY too loose for the power we have so, I will figure out what the trans stuff is and then build more engine, to match.

Re: Help me ID a converter

Bought a used converter from somebody and it had similar markings. It also had the manufacturers stamp!

Re: Help me ID a converter

I have an 8" for Torqueflite that has similar format markings. Mine is a PTC and does have PTC stamped on it.

The markings are:
8TF8 00, where the 00 indicates tightest for this size (according to Kenny at PTC)
30532, date code which starts with 3, and it was manufactured 32nd week of 2005
R090840, not PTC markings according to Kenny

I'd give them a call to see what they say.

Re: Help me ID a converter

I did speak with Kenny, last year. He confirmed, that I do indeed, have an earlier one of their converters. He was very helpful and I have no doubt, we will speak again.
Thanks!
