Looks to me like everyone should have been happy with things the way they were and kept it to the 427 deal so everyone with a fortune invested already didn't have to start over with their engine programs in order to remain competitive.

Not to mention you will obviously have to have a 2014 car in order to run the new engines. Oh well too late now. Looks like the 450 train has left the station.

It seems to me that the problem with the 427 is the weight break being at 450 for the shootouts.

For the regular classes, I think that Chevrolet has done a very good job of looking after the older N/A combinations.

the 450 is a .100 stroked 427, same bore od 4.125, with mechanical roller lifters and they must have changed the head because there is a different part number. Fun to own one. Dyno

Different piston config, more cam, more intake runner volume, bigger valves, more rocker ratio, etc. About the only thing you can use from a 427 are the rods, the manifold and throttle body, and the block.

I think it would end up more like this.

Nope...same exact block with a 4.200 arm, and the manifold and throttle body are exactly the same as the 12 and 13 427's.

Understood, but I am sure that we will see this combination "evolve" a little before it sees an NHRA event.
