'93-'02 Camaro V8/auto stocker questions
Why does the classification tool list the '98 Camaro with the LT1 engine (and without the LS1 engine)? I'm pretty sure that Chevrolet actually built the '98 Camaro with the LS1 (and not the LT1).
Is that an error in the classification guides, an error in the classification tool, or is it intentional for some reason? |
Re: '93-'02 Camaro V8/auto stocker questions
The poor old horse has been beat to death, repeatedly. And again and again. The very early and preproduction cars had LT1s due to a problem or shortage is LS motors. The owners manuals were printed with LT1 specs. NHRA has LT1 in the guide. If you want to run an LS1 call the car a 99. Worry about something else. Get over it.

I'm not "worried" about anything, nor do I have anything to "get over". As Roberte pointed out, it was a legit question- there's no reason for you to act like a dick about it. |

I'm not interested in trying to convince anybody of anything- like you said, a '98 could simply be presented as a '99. Would a '98 LT1 Camaro stocker be what is referred to as a "paper" car? |
Re: '93-'02 Camaro V8/auto stocker questions
I think GM did this to help their 98 Manufacturers points total. If I remember correctly racers were a little slow to warm up to the LS-1 so LT-1 racers could put change the front end and accumulate points as a current year model car for GM.
