Vince Vanni passes
 

Im sad to be the one to tell everyone but Vince Vanni passed away this morning. Our thought and prayers will be with the Vanni family over the next few tough days. Vince was a familiar face at the track who never missed a race untill his health wouldn't allow him. He will definitly be missed. No funeral arrangement are made yet but I will post them when I know. God speed Vince....we will miss you dearly

I just heard from Rob Potter. No one had more fun at the track than Vince and he had a heart of gold. One of the most generous guys I have had the pleasure of meeting. Another link to the golden days of drag racing gone and he will be sorely missed.

Funeral arrangements for Vince Vanni.

Miller Funeral Home , Caledonia.
Visitation: Wednesday 2:00 to 4:00 pm
7:00 to 9:00 pm
Funeral: Thursday, 2:00 pm at the Miller Funeral Chapel
Reception to follow at the Caledonia Legion. (across the street)

Vince was surely an icon in the southern Ontario drag race scene. One not to mince words, you always knew where you stood with him. From what I saw he loved watching his boys drag race, and overflowed with enthusiam with each victory and deep finish. I always enjoyed his calls on Monday morning, usually to rattle the cages and get things stirred up. The stories Vince told me were as entertaining in substance as well as delivery. He could always get a trailer full of rain soaked racer's laughing. The irony is he didn't just see it happen, but so many times made it happen. Vince lived the "drag race dream" most of us could only dream to have. I will surely miss the telephone calls, and his visits to the trailer to find out "what did you run". Our last Can Am race will be a somber one at best, Vince you will be truly missed.

Our thoughts are with everyone that knew Vince.He will be missed around the Cam Am pits, we are like a family,and we will find strength in each other, with stories and great memories.

Tim Miller wrote a nice article about Vince in the Hamilton Spectator sports section today (Friday).

Sorry, I couldn't find it on line, but worth the read if you can locate a paper.
