Go here:
http://www.classracerinfo.com/AFuelList.aspx It is the list of only the fuels accepted for Stock/SS racing. |
Re: Please help understanding NHRA accepted fuel
Pacific Raceway has a full self-serv fuel station of race gas (Sonoco at the time) but when the NHRA shows up a large Sonoco trailer parks next to it and it's the only fuel available for the event. If you show up for a sanctioned National or Lucas Oil event with your tanks dry you will have nothing to worry about. Just your bank account...

Re: Please help understanding NHRA accepted fuel
Still hard to understand for me. Why not just a simple yes or no for each one, or a list for stock/super stock and no other class. Got to be a women righting up this stuff.

Its not that bad... If its on the list you will be good to run it unless otherwise noted... Sunoco MaxNOS VP C23 and VP No2 are the only fuels you can't run in stock or superstock... Well can't run Snowmobile fuel either... |
Re: Please help understanding NHRA accepted fuel
The accepted fuels list is a way for the sanctioning body to try to keep race fuels under control. If a race fuel company wants their products in NHRA or any other racing association, they must submit representative samples of each of those fuels to be tested. They must also submit certain specs for each fuel. Then, a racer tells NHRA what fuel brand and blend they are running and if the fuel sample taken from the car matches the manufacturers specs, they pass. It's a simple way to be sure that prohibited additives aren't in the fuel. Not all race fuel companies are allowed to submit fuels to be on the accepted fuels list.

Re: Please help understanding NHRA accepted fuel
Now the reason that only certain fuels are allowed in Stock and Super Stock are largely because of whichever fuel company is the "Official" fuel of the series. They designate which classes MUST use their brand of fuel only and which classes can legally use any fuel that's on the approved list.

What about oxygenated fuels? Those are legal right 😉 |
Re: Please help understanding NHRA accepted fuel
Only fuels that are listed on the approved list can be run in classes the require fuel check, Stock, Super Stock, Comp, Pro Stock. If it's not on the list you cannot use it, adding ANYTHING to it will get you DQ'd a hefty fine and suspension if you get caught.. and you will. Take care of your fuel, sealed and out of the sun and keep it fresh or it will not pass tech.
