Moby Vic!!!!

Coming next season to a dragstrip near Div.1! The great, white whale of a car will be crushing concrete starting lines and causing fear in the shut-down area as it attempts to go rounds and crush the competition! 75 FFFFord LTD, 460/300 and P/SA at a VERY whale like 4970!

Re: Moby Vic!!!!
And it's got four door go Vic.

Re: Moby Vic!!!!
Bill, it's time to cut the grass.

Re: Moby Vic!!!!
Looks kinda like my 74 2 door, only nicer.......... I found one of the elusive T-Quad intakes. What headers for the whale ?
|
Re: Moby Vic!!!!
My Dad had a 69, a 72, a 75 and 78 LTD,s. I know the last two had 400M motors. Can't remember what the 69 or the 72 had. They let me drive the 72 to the prom. Back then didn't think of these beasts as potential race cars. Back then we laughed at the Mustang II's as well. Now I own one of those!
With the 460, even with the weight, this thing ought to make some torque. I have an 89 Buick Estate 9 passenger wagon with a 307 Olds carb motor, that I acquired thru a trade. It's not in the guide. Told the wife if it isn't gone by next spring. I'm gonna give it an oil and tranny oil and filter change and haul it to the local track. |

Re: Moby Vic!!!!
This is, by far, the most exciting build on the entire page. Back in the day, we ran a 460 powered mid 70 s Lincoln Town Car at Palmdale where are typical da was between 5000 and 6000 feet. With a 430 gear and 26 inch Caldwell's, the car ran 14.50 s all day long. Sounds like a very cool bracket car..........I mean stocker.

Re: Moby Vic!!!!
I agree, best thread on here!
Show us more Billy! |
Re: Moby Vic!!!!
Billy,
Making any progress on Moby Vic? Are you sure those heads are legal? |

Re: Moby Vic!!!!
Billy,
How about an update. I know that the thread on the Pontiac was time consuming and a pain in the arse but inquiring minds wanna know. I think this is a way cool combo and I know a lot of guys are interested in the build. Thanks in advance. |
Re: Moby Vic!!!!
Billy,
You could roll a tennis ball through those intake ports. |
Re: Moby Vic!!!!
and I wish that I could make them smaller!
|
Re: Moby Vic!!!!
Probably will have to lift @ the 1000' so you don't get HP from NHRA

What for? Put some valve springs on it and buzz it up! They make 6.50 gears for a 9" don't they? What is life without a little adventure? |
Re: Moby Vic!!!!
I just gave away 5.86, 6.00, and 6.20 9" gear sets for free. It will be interesting to see how fast it can run. Assuming 460hp (1 per ci) and 5000 lbs it should go 12's :)

Re: Moby Vic!!!!
. . . . and 1 hp/cu in out of that whale is a lot of blubber!!!
Hey, Vic! Why don't you do something really wild? . . like the 400M for Q/SA at a svelte 4590 lbs? |
Re: Moby Vic!!!!
Same carb(1.21)/valves(2.06)/intake and lift is like .406 to .428 compared to the 351M so I think it'd be better.

Re: Moby Vic!!!!
351 blueprints under 9:1 compression; 400 is 9.7. 50 more cubic inches.
|
Re: Moby Vic!!!!
OK. Both the 351M & 400M use the same size 2bbl (1.686/1.21 ) the same heads with the same valves. The 351 has a little over 8 1/2:1 compression & the 400M a little under 9 1/4:1. Yeah the cams are different but with what cam grinders can do these days, I think that's pretty much a wash. (probably wrong).
The 75 & 74 460"s The valves, cams are the same the compression's are similar But as Billy reminded us: Quote:

Re: Moby Vic!!!!
351vs400 I just figure with the same top end the smaller cubes it's got to be fed better. Same as a 302 is ok but the 351W is a pig cause it uses the same head/valves.
50 cubes in that case is a detriment not a bonus. A point in compression is obviously nothing to sneeze at either, but there are more factors in the 351's favour than the 400's. The 460 is just cool regardless:) |
Re: Moby Vic!!!!
piston in block
|
Re: Moby Vic!!!!

I knew who you were talking about anyway. Yes, 2000 Cobra R...Mike built the car himself. |
Re: Moby Vic!!!!
cool, thanks, didn't know that....that's why I read all these... learning all the time
|
Re: Moby Vic!!!!
All right Billy, time for an update...PLEASE! :)
What's going on with the whale? C'mon, you know you want to run a ffffford! LOL! |
Re: Moby Vic!!!!
Curious about how this build is going myself. Also wondering, on the SS Mustang in the earlier video, how can he claim it as a 2000 Cobra R, but not have the correct front bumper?
|
Re: Moby Vic!!!!
i got piston in block waiting on billy for cam
i do not know about new mustang i would like to get car done before i die, it will be a bitch atferwards |
Re: Moby Vic!!!!
Thanks Vic, love to see how this whale runs. I know 460's have been underrated (maybe dismissed is a better term) love to see how it can run when given a fair shake.

Ok, lol. I just always thought that you had to run the correct body parts for the body claimed. Learn something new every day. Car is nice though. |
