Rear Drag Brake Question, Ford 9 inch

I have a Moser Ford 9 inch that I installed in my 4th Gen Firebird, it has GM axle ends

I called Mark Williams to order a rear disc brake kit, the person I talked to says that there kits will not work with my rear, because of the "standout" measurement, or the measurement from the axle housing to the axle flange. The measurement on my rear is 2.70, MW says I need 2.80

What I was wondering, does Moser or anyone else make a bearing spacer to correct this?

Press the bearings off, install .100 spacer, reinstall bearings. This would set the axle out .100 and correct my problem.

Will this work? Is my thinking right?

Do what you are talking about with the spacer. I just installed a set of Strange brakes and axles in the same bastard set up you have now but when the axles were ordered Strange dropped the ball on the axle offset and gave me one with 2.250 instead of 2.50 like the brakes were for. I made a spacer then pressed the bearing back on. If you have the bearings on now you have to split the weding rings to get the bearings off so you will need to buy bearings. I pressed the bearings on without the rings to get the distance I needed for the spacer built it then put it all together. But I did not like the way the Ford bearing set out of the bearing end (the GM bearing is not as wide) so I set the retainer plates up in the lathe and recessed them the amount the bearing stuck out of the housing. I think it was .090 or so. Hope this helps, Mike

I'm not familiar with how your calipers attach to the brackets. Can't you move the calipers out .100 out from the bracket?

Thanks guys for the help

I called Moser, told them my story, they said that there rears are setup with 2.75 offset and that any manufactuers brake setup will work, you may need to shim the calipers.

I guess I will find out when the new brake setup gets here
