69 camaro motor mounts
I tried to find the thread and couldn’t. some guys were talking about what mounts they were using to get oil pan clearance for a big block. I’m just getting ready to finish up my 396 stocker project and don’t want any more problems if I can avoid it. Can someone shed a little light on this?

Re: 69 camaro motor mounts
If I'm not mistaken you want to use the SBC FRAME mounts along with the BBC engine mounts--SBC frame mounts sit about 1 inch taller than the BBC frame mount --- theres your clearance !!!--- also put the BIG bolt thru on the driver side engine mount to Frame mount FIRST then go to the PASSENGER side and that bolt should slide right in... Otherwise if you do the left side first it takes a bit of maneuvering to get the Pass side bolt to go in..It will go in you just have to play with it--- Thats how we always do it---FED 387

Re: 69 camaro motor mounts
Jere Stahl had the correct GM part numbers listed for the best fit of a big block in a 69 Camaro on his website, with his headers.
For the "New Model #205" headers. Still the best performing best fitting 4 into 1 header on the market.
www.stahlheaders.com Greg Stump, Jere's fabricator, is still building Jere's headers, for Kerry Hitt at ACP. Excellent price, product, and service. |
