I loved to hear his Corvette, back in the MP days. Mike A114 |
Re: Tony Feil
My earliest days in drag racing started at Tony's shop. Worked there for a while and was with Tony many times. He is an east coast Hero and Legend and an extremely smart man. I hope he can recover from his illness.

Re: Tony Feil
I was a modified junkie as a teen during the 70s. I knew Tony's name from all his racing accolades and class wins during that era, assuming he was an intense hard nosed racer from Div 1. Well, at the '05 Beech Bend Hot Rod Reunion I was in the lanes with a racer friend and there was a guy with a really nice, clean yellow 8 second '62 Vette pushing it through the lanes by himself. We started chatting and found him a very kind, easy going intellectual. We must have chatted for an hour or so. I asked if he needed help and said "oh, no that's okay"..I said "seriously I'd be happy to help" and he happily accepted. Until he rolled up the windows, I wouldn't have seen the name "Tony Feil". That impression of the intense hard nosed racer I always assumed, changed that day. Tony I hope and pray you pull through this. It seems it's always the good guys who we keep losing. :(

Re: Tony Feil
Prayers work!! Keep them coming.
He is an East Coast Icon. I grew up watching him race ar Etown and always admired him. It's time we recognize and honor the leaders before they get sick. Praying for a complete restoration to health. We can have a Tony Feil Day at Island Dragway, upon his return. |
Re: Tony Feil
Tony Feil is doing a little better than the last post. He was conscious for a little while and was actually able to communicate with his family by blinking his eyes and squeezing his daughter's hand. He can't talk of course because of the incubation tube. The doctors have put him back under sedation because the tube is very uncomfortable. He will probably have a device implanted to help his heart beat a little better. Everything considered, it's really good news.

Plus he was a businessman , par excellence. He got the work done and out..No delays or stories. There was a lot to learn from this man. RIP, bud |

Re: Tony Feil
Tony was without a doubt a man exactly as Mark described. A No nonsense businessman and extremely smart man and good drag racer.
He was also very funny when he wanted to be It is very painful seeing people you were with in your youth pass on. RIP Tony.... |
Re: Tony Feil
I did not know Tony like some of you, but a couple things do come to mind.
Stopped at his shop with a friend who was dropping parts off. I believe we were going to the D1 banquet that night. So i got a little grease on my pants and Tony said I got just the thing. Pulls out a rag and puts some solvent on it and it took it right off. He then looks right at me and with a straight face says," Perfect, your leg will fall off in a day or two" LOL We are at the D1 WWCS race at New England Dragway in the early 80's, staying on the circle in Portsmouth, Tony arrives towing with a suburban , on the quarter panel in small letters it says "Hotel Suburban" Ya in that day, we all slept in our rigs often. RIP , he was a good man |
Re: Tony Feil
Always read about Tony in many monthly publications back in the day about his engine building prowess and see him at Divisionals and national events. Did not personally meet him until his later years when he was an officer of N.E.T.O. at their year end banquet about 20 years ago. I saw a man who commanded a great deal of respect from his fellow racers. At a race at LV, I remember him while racing his Vette casually dressed in a button down collared shirt and very neat and professional looking. A class act ! May the perpetual light shine upon his soul...
