SRD 1973 Vega
It was suggested I move my thread. I bought this Vega looking for a light bracket car. When I got it home I could tell that it was not a backyard built car. After looking at as many pictures of Pro Stock cars I was convinced it was an SRD car. I got in touch with Pete Hutchinson of Malvern PA who worked at SRD. Pete agreed to look at pictures of the car. He asked for additional pictures and cinfirmed that he had built this car. I am trying to find out who the original owner was. It is a 73. Has a Body in white trim tag with a 73 date on it. It was updated to a 77. The front suspension was white. Any help is greatly appreciated
I am bad with pictures. Try this link to see pictures http://classracer.com/classforum/showthread.php?t=66543 |

Re: SRD 1973 Vega
We need some complete outside pictures of the car as it sits now. Maybe also a firewall picture that shows the three colors it used to be.

Dale Evans, Painsville Ohio. I will post a Draglist link that speaks of the purchase and update of this SRD built 73 Vega.

Re: SRD 1973 Vega
I talked to Dale, he was very nice. He had great pictures on his Facebook which lead me to believe that the car was a SRD. I also used a few pictures of Grumpys car. Grunps rear suspension, mainly wishbone, was identical to what I have. Both cars mid plate were also the same. My car was wrecked on the driver side. Frame was slightly buckled behind the front suspension. Looks like the driver quarter was replaced. The car had been updated with some square box and a few extra bars added. The three link was removed for a ladder bar and coil over shocks. There is still evidence of the early straight down wheelie bars on the rear cross member. The rear frame is a triang coming to a point in the back. The car was owned by a Rod Weideman in the northern mid west. Maybe Wisconsin. I have not been able to locate him.

Re: SRD 1973 Vega
I do not think so. Dale said when he sold his car it went to Maryland, which means nothing, it still could have ended up in Wisconsin. I do not see a car in those colors having a white suspension and a red rear differential in it. Hi build pictures do not show a wishbone locator on the car. His car was a three link. he explained it to me. After seeing just enough of his car and just enough of Grunps car I know what the three link would look like. Part of it is still on the housing. And part as been cut off.
