Koni strut rebuild
Does anyone have a good recommendation for getting a set of Koni front struts rebuilt since Fastshocks is temporarily closed?

Re: Koni strut rebuild
my recommendation is to buy new Santhuff struts

Contact
Randy Mans. He did a great job on my front and rear koni shocks on rebuilds. He has great customer relations when asking questions. +1 (612) 306-5387 https://www.fastshocks.com/contact Bob Lasko SS/CS |
Re: Koni strut rebuild
Lamb did ours. They were Koni's originally.

Re: Koni strut rebuild
Not sure when Randy will be taking new work, but he has redone all of our Koni's, struts and shocks and we couldn't be happier with them. Hoping FastShocks is able to get back to taking new work soon

Re: Koni strut rebuild
No offense to Santhuff shocks, I've heard they are pretty good, but I know of 2 instances where racers swapped their Santhuff's for Randy's custom shocks and picked up et and consistency. These cars were not out in left field either, both having won national events before and after.

Re: Koni strut rebuild
No offense to Randy Mans nor any of the numerous shock rebuilders but they ain't performing magic on the shocks installed in the cars being discussed in this forum and if having your shocks rebuilt resulted in quicker ETs and consistency then your shocks have either never been dialed in or have been dead for a long time.
FYI, my former Super Stock car which launches with the best of them, runs out of the box Afco coilover shocks. Further, the rear shocks were on the car 18 seasons and the front shocks for 13 without a loss of performance nor consistency. At the conclusion of the 2022 season, all 4 shocks were sent back to Afco just because I was rebuilding the car from the bottom up. The rear shocks were replaced with new because Afco no longer had parts for those shocks while the front shocks were rebuilt. Bolted them back on, set the ride, went out and tested to dial in the bump and rebound on all 4 corners and if I didn't tell you I rebuilt and replaced the shocks, no one would ever know as it went right back to winning races. |
Re: Koni strut rebuild
The shocks in question were new Santhuffs that were ordered specifically for the car, they were neither dead or not "dialed in"
|
Re: Koni strut rebuild
if you say so but again, I say none of the numerous shock rebuilders are performing magic.
No magic, just the right out of the box shocks dialed in... https://i.imgur.com/G97rEM9l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/l5IYEHCl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/NXatccZl.jpg |

Nobody obviously cares about your opinion, since no one replied, the gentleman was asking about what he had, and wanted to have updated, you recommended Santhuff, great shock, but then you show your using bolt In Afco stuff, again thinking you know everything, you don?t, if he wanted Santhuff or Afcos he would have asked for them. Your car isn?t that impressive FYI. |
Re: Koni strut rebuild
know more than you and I'll put my Firebird against your junk anytime!

Re: Koni strut rebuild
Blah blah blah?.my **** isn?t junk anyway but do you boy, put a legal SS motor in and come play, oh and leave the box at home..
|
Re: Koni strut rebuild
Bring your junk to a real race with real $ up for grabs and line up with me or STFU!

Re: Koni strut rebuild
I don?t bracket race like I said, this is a class Racing forum, no interest in bracket racing cars with electronics like yourself. Come on in the water?s warm
|
Re: Koni strut rebuild
of course you don't, you'd be a 1st round runner up with your junk and lack of skills!

Re: Koni strut rebuild
I have been at Fastshocks when all brands, specifically Afco, Koni, Penske were disassembled for rebuilding. Shock oil and seals go skunky after time, some sooner than others. Unless there is mechanical breakage, a shock slowly wears out, and you may not notice a drop in performance. I believe road miles are harder on the shocks than racing. A service on your shocks, especially this time of year, is as important as any other aspect of your updates and maintenance. For most racers, it may not be needed every year, but something to consider. Dyno.

Re: Koni strut rebuild
I see that both the Super Stock and Stock Lucas Oil champs were using Randy Mans Fastshocks, just sayin.

Re: Koni strut rebuild
I looked at this post because I just bought a S/S car that has Koni struts in it and I thought I might learn something from it . I've never run S/S before but I have been drag racing for 45 years and always wanted to do this. Finally went for it and got a car. Been on class racer for a few years and think it's a awesome place. Then I see this and 1320 just keeps knocking everybody down. I help a friend on his comp car and Randy Mans has been a super guy! I like a previous post about world champs running Fast Shocks. I know that I will be able to get in touch with Randy and figure something out. Just can't believe the negativity of one guy. I'm sure he'll respond to this and tell me what an idiot I am.

I put 1320racer on the "ignore list" and this has made reading on Class Racer a much more enjoyable time. I recommend it for everyone.

Re: Koni strut rebuild
I had never had good shocks,so when the time came..I was talking about shocks and Randy's name kept coming up without me asking who....Randy helped me alot..
I have his shocks and springs ( he recommended) all the way around my stocker.. took 3-4 weekends to get shocks, clutch etc. in the ballpark.. I now can change shocks and actually see changes.. Excited to race it in 2025 LORD willing I highly recommend Randy |

The thick black line with white letters just above the posts - click on "USER CP" then go to "settings", then "edit ignore profile" and add anyone you want to ignore. Make sure you update it when you're done.
