10-ounce CO2 refill

Tell me about your equipment and procedure when refilling your 10-ounce CO2 from a mother bottle.

I use compressed air for my shifter. I pump up the bottle with my hand held Ryobi tire inflator. Easy and simple

Larry,
I used to get Red Ball welding supply to fill mine. It was so cheap..
If they have a local office near you.
If you have a mother bottle try Freezing your 10 oz bottle. Might help suck it in when you connect it to the mother bottle.

Empty the small bottle and close the valve. Weight it to the ounce and make note. Put it in a freezer for awhile. Hours if you have the time.

Pull it out, hook it up, open both valves, give it a few shakes, close the valves after 20 seconds or so. Weight it again. It will likely be overfull. Bleed gas off until it weighs just 10oz more than when you started or less

Do NOT leave it overfill. It will over pressurize when it warms up and bad things will happen. At a minimum it will pop the safety disc and scare the s### out of you.

Equipment is nothing more than a couple of bottle nipples with 6AN adapters and a length of Teflon AN hose with -6 ends.

Take it to a paintball place. ours cost around $2.00 to fill

Larry the best procedure for refilling them is not refilling them;) my advice is to install an on board air compressor...

https://www.krperformance.com/Item/air_pump_system

got one installed in both of my cars, makes everything air actuated easy peasy and allows you to air your tires in the lanes.

I had a 20lb steel mother bottle with braided stainless lines and 2 ball valves. I made up that setup after the local paint ball store closed and I got tired of chasing bottle refills....

I could fill a 10 oz bottle in less than a minute and never weighed the 10oz bottle. I had 3 bottles but a full bottle lasted many many runs.....air shifter and throttle stop...
I checked the pressure after a quick refill and always looked when it was hot out and never saw over 1500lbs pressure......so as not to blow out a 2000lb safety disc.
I just bought a car I used to own and added an air shifter to it since it's a 3 speed and I've been racing some 1/8th mile bracket races
Since I gave away my refill setup, this time I bought a K&R on board compressor. It works well....

What shifter are you using the K&R setup with?

Turbo Action Cheetah and the trans is a Metric T-200 reverse pattern V-Body

Biondo makes the air shifter add on and Digital Delay makes the controller

It's not legal for Stock but is working fine just for bracket racing for now.

It would be legal for Super Stock

I got a 20# bottle that i get filled at welding supply place. I put 10 oz bottle in cooler for a bit then hook up bottles and fill. Never weigh. No problems.

I just recently bought a car with kr compressor and Ed is right. It is the way to go. But my camaro has a bottle for now.

I fill the c02 the same way as nitrous bottles. Freeze bottle and I have a connector made. Make the connection and I think the little bottles hold. 10ounces. And usually get 8 ounces

I have basically the exact same setup - T350, Cheetah (forward pattern), Biondo solenoid, Digital Delay controller & adjustable regulator. If the pressure is below ~110 it shifts 1st to 3rd, if the pressure is 125 or above it shifts positively each gear change. In between it "hangs" on the 1 - 2 shift & slows the 330' time. The Biondo solenoid instructions align with what I've experienced regarding the 1 to 3 change stating that if this happens, increase the pressure.

I was asking all of this because I thought about switching to a K&R compressor, but if it only adjusts up to 100 PSI I'm not sure it will work for me.

Re: 10-ounce CO2 refill

I had similar issues with the Biondo shifting 1-3 if pressure gets to low.
The K&R pressure switch shuts off at 110lbs and does not go on until 90 or below.
I looked to see if there was a higher pressure switch I might be able to swap in but there was nothing that I felt was the right off and back on switch, pressure wise
Mines been working fine at 100-110 lbs and I just make sure the pressure is up before a run.....
I replaced my shift cable and the shifter is much easier to shift and I have not been out racing to check both the trans and the shifting issues I've been having.
Racing takes a back seat anymore.....
