Stick tire question

So….. after the longest build ever I’m just about ready to get the car out. (Will update my build thread) Well, that’s until the passenger tire went flat and rubbed the inner well. thought a 270 junk brand new tire was bad but now I find out you can’t get them at all and it might stop me from getting out this year.

My question, has anyone ever ran the 28” x 9 tire?? Think I can possibly find some 30x9’s but the thought of having to cut into the 1/4 is not sitting well but it is my last option!!’

Anyone have 1 or a pair of new MT3056st’s they would part with? I would even take a decent used set…..

Tire shortages
Check Goodyear

You will have to make room for the tires.
That’s just a fact. Stick car runs big bias plus
There gonna grow at racing speeds

69 Camaros have a generous wheel well stock. You can trim the inner lip and fold it so it is smooth without messing with the actual opening. Putting less tire than you need will cause problems if this is a racecar.

I have the inner lip folded, plenty room up top. Problem is the back of the rocker up to the 1/4

I have someone letting me borrow a set of 30x9’s to see how they fit.

Hoosier makes a 9 x 29 D07 stick tire.

Will someone give him a used set you still have a few runs left on. We have been waiting long enough to see this car out. You know we are all getting older you can't put this off any longer. Barry

3056 Stick shift tires

I have had a set on order since November.

I talked with Jason at M/T at the Sportsnationals. He said they were scheduled for production on Monday. Like the 18th 2 days ago.

I expect to have my set at the Division 3 Race in Joliet. I would get with Chris on the M/T trailer to see if he can bring another set.

I got tired of waiting for the Mickeys. McCormack had one tire in stock but can’t remember if it was an ST. I have a new set of M/T on the car now but always travel with two sets of front and rears. I tried Hoosier’s for my backup set, but haven’t tested them yet. They came highly recommended by some stick guys. Might not matter much now…no glue!

I contacted MT direct and was told they won’t be made till the end of year possibly next year.

What is different about the 3956st vs 3056? And how would the st version work with an automatic?

Sorry 3056st not 3956st. Fat finger typing

Re: Stick tire question

The ST is a stiffer sidewall tire. Automatics will usually run the radials, but either one will work on an automatic just fine.

I ran the 3056ST on a transbrake-equipped automatic car. They were OK, but I went back to radials and the car was so much better.

If your car can/will work on radials, there is absolutely no reason not to run them. If your car won't work on radials, make it work. It's worth it.

I understand that it probably isn't possible with a stick car.
