"Live From" zMax Dragway - 4 Wide Charlotte, NC
 

Hey guys, we are in line at the zMax Dragway. It looks like about 75 rigs are in the stacking area. I was told that they will start pulling us in at 8am tomorrow. Its a 3 day race, we get two qualifiers on Friday and first round Saturday morning. The weather looks good for Friday, but there is a slight chance of rain on Saturday and Sunday.

I’ll hope to see you there on Friday. I’ll be there but finding you might be a problem. Try and park where you did at the fall race. Noticed on the entry list that there are no Hemi cars entered in SS.

Just pulled in myself it was just getting dark and very hard to find my way around this place to get stacked, anyway, if there’s any interest on the .90 side maybe I’ll do some reporting, let me know guys.

I was actually going to try to do a Live from Atco for the .90 site but, as you well know I think you could have stood outside in a lightning storm with a metal rod and still not got any cell service there. I will try to team up with Keith and do one from Cecil.

Yes and no... there are some stockers on the pro side, and most super street cars are on the pro side. The rest of the sportsman including stock and super stock are on the right side of the track.

We are done with parking, the NHRA crew knocked it all in about 3 hours. I did find a few cars out, but most are still setting up camp.

I’ll ask a stupid question, you don’t know if S/SS will run Friday in the same two lanes? 1/2. Or 3/4?

Hey guys, a few things here first... but I'm going to start a new thread with questions and ideas on how NHRA can make Stock and Super Stock a more fair and enjoyable experiences. I had a long talk with Lonnie Grim, I'm sure most racers know who he is, but for those who don't, he is the National Tech Director.

Give me a few minutes and I will start the conversation. As for racing... Super Street is out first at 8:30 followed by Stock. I will have photos tomorrow and updates if there are any changes.

I just heard that the NHRA is requiring armbands to go to the starting line.

Yes, you need an arm band whether you are a racer or a crew member.

Sorry for the lack of reports... its a little hectic today with 2 qualifiers and first round. I have lots of Super Stock photos, I could not get Stock obviously, but Butch is here taking photos and he will have Stock photos in a few days for us. The internet is very slow here so I will be back later with photos.

The starting line for the Showdown cars was not good, I don't think more 5 cars got a clean run. Even my car with only 12 degrees of timing off the hit struggled to get a hold of the track. Most Stockers and Super Stockers seemed to be okay, but the Showdown cars running 4 wide was not a pretty sight.

Hey Ken sorry I didn't step up with any reports this weekend but as you know this is a big family weekend for us. The girls have had a big weekend at the water park and it was good to see alot of people.
Got to thank Richie Decola for letting me drive his car after a grenade went off under my transmission last weekend. It's a great car I suck but it was a fun weekend.
There was a few people I missed like Brett Candies I couldn't never seen to connect with and a few more. We'll catch up next time!
Now we're off to the Jimmy Buffett concert with Greg Rowe so it's Five O'clock Somewhere!

The Four Wide FSS deal looks pretty neat (is that still a word? Just checking since I was referred to as old in another thread). Based on what “First in the Sevens” Turk is doing with a six year old car I’d suspect he’ll be the guy to beat. True innovator and competitor who keeps proving it, at this weekend’s Four Wide only the most recent example.

I have watched most every qualifying run for those guys, very impressive to say the least!
my question to everyone is I thought this race was going to introduce the new factory experimental class, anybody know when that’s going to happen?

Factory Stock Showdown qualifying. It was hard to get all the cars in the photos, but you get the idea on what the 4 wide's look with the Showdown cars.

As far as I know none of the Factory X cars are finished yet. However I have seen speculation that there may be enough of them done to have some exhibition racing in the fall. In the mean time they can run Comp Eliminator.
