Live for Wildhorse pass Div7
I'm going to try to post pics and qualifier sheets
Very hot and humid here. Not sure of the car count yet. |
Re: Live for Wildhorse pass Div7
This should not be scheduled for this time of year.

Re: Live for Wildhorse pass Div7
I was pre entered and didn't think I could take the heat. The track did give my money back. Hats off to them for their kindness. I think there was 30-32 cars after the first qualifier in stock. Only 25 super street cars. Someone should have changed this date. It is calling for a high of 110 degrees today.

Re: Live for Wildhorse pass Div7
Didn't even bother to enter. Why should I throw money away for such a poor planned race!

Re: Live for Wildhorse pass Div7
It is brutal out here at the track.
!/2 the racers over 70 will be @ the ER or Dead in their trailer by Sunday Afternoon! |
Re: Live for Wildhorse pass Div7
Thankfully you’re only 69 John, it’s brutal that Rice would do this to you guys.

Re: Live for Wildhorse pass Div7
You all please be smart!
It's not worth the risk of y o u or your equipment. We chose not to participate. Its just not worth it. We are not spring chickens! |
Re: Live for Wildhorse pass Div7

Re: Live for Wildhorse pass Div7
I am not the brightest blub on the Tree but I let Weather.com make my decision to go or not. The high today in Huntington Beach is 75 Deg. I'll have to deal with that. I R B smart. Good luck to all you Girls and Guys try to stay Cool.

Re: Live for Wildhorse pass Div7
I live here and chose not to enter. In the heat all day for 4 days is just not fun. Everyone please stay hydrated. I learned the hard way after being dehydrated twice. Honestly 100 ounces of water a day is minimum.

I led Q1, a first for me, with a -.781 pass in this cauldron. In Q2 Ms. Williams sashayed by me with a .-.786 pass... you'll note in 3rd place they credit Kim Cocuzza with a -.0688 E/S pass, now I'm pretty sure the Cocuzza's still have an auto in their Camaro but of course I could be wrong. If I'm correct against the E/SA index Kim's pass would be a -.738 pass and still have her #3. Regardless you'll quickly realize Qualifying thus far has been led by three E/SA cars with arguably the two quickest D7 E/SA auto cars not here! I'm not aware of discrepancies in the SS sheet but they may exist. Primarily I'm trying to stay cool but will update nightly as possible... http://classracer.com/classforum/pic...ictureid=10483 http://classracer.com/classforum/pic...ictureid=10484 |

Re: Live for Wildhorse pass Div7
Hey Robbie,
If you are still at the track try and go by the white Mustang II of Bob Elliot and tell him an old retired Navy submarine hunter wishes him luck and thank him for his service (I saw his ball cap). Same to all of you veterans out there racing or not on this anniversary of one of our darkest days here in America (9/11). Ray Gottry (Navy retired) |
Re: Live for Wildhorse pass Div7
Spoke with a good source last night ( #1 Comp) as of last night. Track was North of 150 and they went right down Main Street! Heard they dumped 5k gal water to cool track for late q rounds. Great job !

Re: Live for Wildhorse pass Div7
So thankful I changed my mind about attending this race! I just can't function in that kinda heat! Hopefully it cools down for October.
|
Re: Live for Wildhorse pass Div7
Hey Ray, when I see him I'll show him your post. More than happy to do it. Thank you for your service!

Re: Live for Wildhorse pass Div7
Robbie, thanks for all the pictures.
Everyone, please stay hydrated and safe. I don't like HOT. Is the Mustang that Bob Elliott driving B.J. Graham's old car?? R.I.P. B.J. |
Re: Live for Wildhorse pass Div7
Yes it is.

Re: Live for Wildhorse pass Div7
Don't just hydrate with water. You need something else like gator ade or some electrolytes. Just water will cause cramps.
|
Re: Live for Wildhorse pass Div7
A few years back we were at Bakersfield for a Heritage race. I was running d/g and one of our group was running a/g It was brutally hot and he was pouring water down his throat like there was no tomorrow. I told him get some gator ade or at least some salt tablets. He kept saying he would be okay. Got to the track the next morning and he came and apologized. Said he should have listened to me. He had cramps so bad in the middle of the night he had to call 911. Nothing but water will wash all the nutrients out of your system.
Be careful. |
Re: Live for Wildhorse pass Div7
When the locals stay home, you know you messed up. I would give everybody 2 grade points for showing up, cancel and refund entry for second race and maybe have a tow vehicle/ street car gambler or dash for cash on Saturday night so you could race with the AC on. Gary probably just needs to put the belt back on his highly-modified Z-24 for the AC to work again. Also, spectators should be allowed in the VIP suites, should be room in there for all 5 of 'em!

Re: Live for Wildhorse pass Div7
Jerry Stein, William North and Greg Luneack were no shows first round of stock. Did they break, go home or get heat exhaustion? Also two no shows in Superstock and John Irving broke in first round of Superstock. Not easy on drivers and cars.

[QUOTE=GTS340;647642]Jerry Stein, William North and Greg Luneack were no shows first round of stock. Did they break, go home or get heat exhaustion? Also two no shows in Superstock and John Irving broke in first round of Superstock. Not easy on drivers and cars.
Did not really break my car exactly When there was an Oil Down right before our pair = I backed out of the water box and Jon ran out and opened both doors and the hood. It felt like I was about to pass out and my cage and equipment do not want to let me get out real easily and I did not realize the length of time the clean up would take. When it was time to run - Jon did not get the hood closed correctly and when I left the line it popped up onto the safety latch and I had to lift. In Stock not much better = I left holding 7 or 8 Hundreds on my opponent. So much Sweat pouring out of my Helmet into my eyes that I literally could not see the finish line AND took over a car length plus at the finish and broke out by a few thousands. I thought it was raining inside the Demon = I was that darn wet!! 110 Degrees and the heat shimmering off the Asphalt are not for 70 + Racers!! |
Re: Live for Wildhorse pass Div7
Were they checking face masks in the pits?
From what has been beaten over my head is that heat propagates the Chinese Virus. |
Re: Live for Wildhorse pass Div7
Doesn't sound that fun John. Glad you didn't break something. Better safe than sorry to skip the second race. Drive safe on the way home.
Paul |
Re: Live for Wildhorse pass Div7
No apparent Mask Enforcement
Nope.......That I observed at the race although signs were present warning you. |
Re: Live for Wildhorse pass Div7
So it gets even weirder. They ran 1st round of stock. Now we take a 5.5 hour break
|
Re: Live for Wildhorse pass Div7
Well I got my Second Wind when I found out
the second race was reduced to a one day deal and reentered the race again However, apparently I made the mistake of passing that Wind in the first round of Stock Eliminator in High Gear. Which must of caused me to break out by -015 to Chris' .-007. = If I just could have just made it another 100 Feet!. It is tough being Old and Fat in this Heat! |
Re: Live for Wildhorse pass Div7
John did you really just admit to passing wind at the finish line in Round 1? With the windows up? You're a bigger man than I!!!!!!
|
Re: Live for Wildhorse pass Div7
I remember the GOOD old days when the D7 race at Phoenix was the weekend before the WinterNationals…
It was a great way to start the season and it even made sense |
