1969 Chevelle 325HP
Happy New Year everyone, I hope everyone is staying safe. I am looking for some advise. Refreshing my 396 325HP engine in my 1969 Chevelle. Looking for advise on an oil pan and valve springs. Thanks

Doug: That's a good combo, and the '69 Chevelle is factored to 325/316. My son's running the same combo in a '68 Camaro. Look over the NHRA-approved products closely. |
Re: 1969 Chevelle 325HP
I use the Moroso 20451 pan on mine. Fits well, but no room to spare on crossmember. Hangs a tick below crossmember as well. You will want the PAC conical springs #1427

I didn't think you could run that pan in stock? The sump is lowered. This is the pan I found however it won't fit on my Gen 6. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/chp-cp207 |
Re: 1969 Chevelle 325HP
Get the Milodon 30710 NHRA accepted oil pan and send it to Stef's to have their trap door and scraper installed.

Box... MOROSO 20451 is a nice pan...MB.

“OIL PAN OEM or NHRA-accepted aftermarket replacement oil pan permitted, Windage trays and/or baffles permitted. Modifications of any kind prohibited.” It seems to me sending a pan out to have modifications made may not be in accordance with the rule |

You may modify it internally. You may not modify it externally, such as to lower, lengthen, or widen the sump, or otherwise expand it. The addition of baffles, trays, scrapers, etc, is legal. |
Re: 1969 Chevelle 325HP
FYI, Stef's had some REALLY nice pans on stock cores at PRI in 2019. We just couldn't seem to get them interested in talking to us. After a while, we just gave up.

Call Stefs direct and talk to Stan. I bought a pan for my super stock engine and they were great to deal with. |

At some point I may. But if I'm standing in your booth, looking at your products, wearing an engine builder badge, and there's no one in your booth except 4-5 of your representatives, I'd expect one of them to step out of their huddle about dinner and come talk to me. |
Re: 1969 Chevelle 325HP
I have experienced issues on the approved SBC Moroso pan.
Bought a Milodon, fit perfectly and shipped it to Stef's. |
Re: 1969 Chevelle 325HP
Thank you for all the responses. We ended up purchasing a Champ Pan. Very impressive and a very good price. Even when you convert CDN dollars to USD. LOL

Re: 1969 Chevelle 325HP
Chipper, The CP207 according to their site ( specifications) is accepted.. It is exactly the stock GM part with no exterior modifications like the small block you saw listed. The CP 207 will sail through tech easily like all the stock GM pans not listed. I’ve been running them for years. Great folks , great parts. Hope that helps.
Dave, For info-Box Motorsports does have a legit stocker and has won class. |
