There were a dozen or more of those cars in Div 4 back then. Do you know the color(s)?

Teuton, Caro, Hale, Gibbs, Robillard,...…..

Not Hale or Gibbs, unrestored! As raced, originally red, but has evidence of black, white and light blue, not Down or East or Earwood. Not a restored vehicle!!

That was rebodied when you look at those pictures, all factory spotwelds on the unibody.

Who raced it at the 73 Gators? That would be a big clue.

Seems like Bud Spears ran a red 65 Dodge normally SS/CA. I think he was division 4.

Albert Simien a bricklayer in Lake Charles (did my house in 2004) back in the day was the 2nd owner (??) of the Texas Rattler. I have pictures of that car at Houston in late 60s or early 70's, somewhere in a box. Phish

This is not a 65 Dodge, it is a 65 Plymouth.

Fred, try researching Cecil Petty. car number 4532 which would be a Div 4 car. I'll keep on looking

Didn't Skeeter Hernandez own or end up with that car?

There was a red 65 Dodge at the national event in Dallas I believe in 1985.
I saw it again a couple more times but I can’t remember where. I have a photo of it somewhere. The guys name on the car was Wolf. From Duncan, Okla. Painted on the doors was an elephant called the “Pachyderm Express.” I remember one of the front fenders had a hole in the top of the fender. I don’t remember which one. The car needed some love and some updates. Back in those days I graded everything against the Gibbs and Caro cars. There were a lot of them I have not seen. I spent more time with the Gibbs car at Easttex Raceway. The body on this car from Duncan sat higher over the rear tires than the other cars of that period. Also it’s performance was no where near the other guys. I will never forget on the lip of the truck lid was written something to the effect,
“There’s not a part made this car can’t break.”

Re: 1965 Dodge SS/BA-CA

I met Cecil Petty in Early 1980 at Green Valley when he was testing his car. We became friend and racing buddies until he died in 2006. Cecil told me he bought the car from the Grandfather of someone who worked for him. When he got it he had Joe Smith install the Cage, ladder bar w/floater rear and tub the car. Jim Hale built the engine and Cecil accumulate enough points to go to the World Finals in Ontario Ca. Cecil drove the car and I worked on it until 1986 when he stopped driving. I drove the car in 1987 – 1989 when he sold the car to Fred Englehart. The last I heard about the car was when Norm Brady called me about it. Cecil’s number was 4532 and mine was 4533.
The car was an original 990, it had a graphic of a Elephant chasing a Mouse on the rear quarters and SS/CA 4532 on the doors. There were no holes in the fenders, the passenger door glass was not the original lite glass. The car was not a Show Queen just a well worn race car

I also remember the car Cecil had as it was only 25 miles from me.Last I had seen it ,it was out in front of his gas station, but I dont remember how long ago it was.I remember(i think anyhow) it saying Mopar Mastadon on the side of it but this would have been back in the early 80's...Victor Penrod 2019 S/S Champion

Thanks everyone, according to title history Cecil purchased from Tom Stinnett of Lindsay Ok, previously Ernest Chambers of Del City Ok. Everything Dave Wolfe said is correct! I am hoping to find pictures prior to Cecil but after Gene Kidder. 70’s photos. Thanks

I used to live within about 3 miles of Skeeter in Maryland near Andrew's AFB:) and the last car I remember him having was a REAL SS/C 69 AMX.
